Update 2/14/2025:

Hello friends - we are currently working to publish the Dedicated Server files for all to see (free of course) as part of your Tools list. At this time we have a workaround if some of you would like to try this - using SteamCMD.

Please click this link to learn more. This is a very advanced method of installing the Dedicated Server so we recommend that you take caution and read the instructions carefully as we do not officially support this method. Once the matter is resolved with the release you will be able to acquire it normally from Steam (for free of course) and this will install the game in your normal default steamapps folder. We apologize for this delay and will update again when it is ready!

Hi all we are aware of some issues that players have found in update 1.3.3, and while the team investigates, we are here to help! This post will be kept updated with the latest information and workarounds, when possible. We also invite you to write us a ticket if you have any problems, we are here to help!!!

We are actively working on another rapid patch to address the following issues:
-Building stability and buildings blowing up
-The Ink Grinder not working
-Armor Stands not working
-Sieges triggering too often from fast travel

We'll get back to you on timing as soon as possible. Keep those support tickets coming. Especially if you are encountering the stability issues. Videos are great, as well as save files (both the MW and MC saves).

2. WHITE SCREEN / CAN'T START AT MAIN MENU: we’re aware of an issue occurring where players are becoming stuck on a while screen at the start of the game or cannot press the interface buttons at startup. The team are investigating this internally but we’ve found that this issue is occurring primarily to Windows N and KN users. If you install the VP9 Video Extensions via the Windows app and reboot, the game should play the videos correctly for you. 3. What are these "dot walls?"
We see some of you have encountered our famous "dot walls" in Moria. These are an intended part of the game, as the game loads in the next area. They're typically going to appear for 10-15 seconds, but even on systems with lower specs, or if you're online with a limited connection to the host. But they shouldn't last more than a minute or so. If you find they're persisting for you for a very long time, you may wish to try:
-- Save and exit and reload the game, especially if you have been playing for a very long time.
-- Check that you have the latest updated graphics drivers
-- Ensure no background processes, "overlays" or video card graphics managers are running, as these may be hogging your system when playing and incompatible with Return to Moria.
And if your issues persist beyond this, please submit a report with your specs, save and log files for the game to the support team to investigate.

I have explored six different Dark Mine Shafts and have not found a single mithril vein and the mithril nodes do not give any ore

Been playing with a friend and literally the entire time NOTHING in the Elven Quarter has regrown. It feels really bad because this elimates so many recipes that make the normal progression of this game feel smoother and it's starting to feel like the only option is to abandon our construction projects and the progress we made on this world to just start over in hopes the bug does not repeat itself.

In a party where the Great Pump is. One of the party members died in the water. It will not let him release..it goes from the red screen..then black as he dies and will not bring up the option to release. It's stuck in an endless loop. Any thoughts?

Anyone else having the issue (and/or know how to fix) just characters never saving and being unable to play singleplayer? Anytime I create a character it won't save, locally online nothing, if I make one an join a multiplayer world the second I return to main menu or close game the character no longer exists, if I make a character and try to hop into singleplayer with him it just gives me an error and doesn't let me create world (sandbox or campaign), hell even if I create character and return to main menu without doing anything else that character will instantly cease to exist. Has anyone else experienced this or know what to do?? It's been happening consistently for months, have tried coming back to this game a few times (including a fresh install anytime I do) and it's STILL an issue making the game completely unplayable beyond the first session of a multiplayer world :/

Would've loved to have continued playing the game but I haven't played in a while because the game started to crash a lot after beating it with no fix from support.

I got a response on X/Twitter that said I had done just about everything I could to fix it so gave me a link to the official site and sent in a ticket with no response except maybe a generic "We received your ticket" type thing.

Can't recommend this game if I can't even get a fix to allow me to play it. Wouldn't want anyone else going through what I've been through. Besides the crashes though I really enjoyed the entire game and was looking forward to continuing on with rebuilding the mines. RIP.

Yeah, I don't have any of the issues mentioned in the upcoming patch, tis the crippled framerate that is killing it for me. Even when the frame counter shows 30-50 FPS the game stutters literally every other step my dwarf takes when moving. No setting changes or adjustments seem to help and yes I have the latest nvidia drivers thank you.

I have this same issue in a single-player game. I've not found a solution so far. It's an endless loop with no obvious way out.

The torch light in the game has a very strong effect on the eyes. When the character runs, the color flickers from purple to orange at high speed. Am I the only one with this problem?

I have the same problem, it's very annoying to look at.

This is not a solution to the problem, but rather something that may help you in some way - use Zarôk Torch, it has a bright and stable light

I am having this issue as well. some door ways dont load and it stutters like crazy. at first it was on multiplayer with no issues on single player and now im having the same issue with single player. its like a rendering problem

What is going on with controller support? When using a controller my character slow-walks. when using keyboard he runs (not talking about the shift-W running)

you should be able to change defaults and keybinds for your controller. its under the settings somewhere if you are in big-picture.

Can I request that the constant crashes get looked into, at all? I can't seem to play for more than an hour with friends without it crashing

In the location I can't lift my corpse over the geyser, I spin around in a circle for 5 minutes and there's no point
