Black screen on startup

If you encounter a black screen on startup your computer's operating system may be below our minimum spec. We require Windows 7 or higher or OS X 10.7.

We have a couple of cases where players have been able to resolve the black screen issue by deleting their saved desktop options (which determines the window size and position on startup). This should no longer be nesssary with the latest build, but here are the steps should you wish to try them.

First, find your steam library folder (if you don't know where this is, launch your Steam client, select Settings from the Properties menu and then from the Downloads panel click the Steam Library Folders button). Now edit this file:

<your steam library folder>\steamapps\common\CardHunter\META-INF\AIR\application.xml

Find the lines that say width and height and change them to your screen resolution (or something smaller than it).

Then, please look for the following file and move or rename it:

Windows

<your-user-folder>/AppData/Roaming/com.bluemanchu.CardHunter/LocalStore/#SharedObjects/CardHunterSteamApp.swf/DesktopOptions.sol

where <your user folder> is something like C:\users\<my-windows-user-name>. The AppData folder may be hidden by default, in which case you will need to show hidden folders (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=windows-7).

OS X

Users/<your-user-name>/Library/Application Support/com.bluemanchu.CardHunter/Local Store/#SharedOjbjects/CardhunterSteamApp.swf

Once you've moved or renamed that file, try restarting the game and see if the black screen problem is fixed.

Yesterday it still had windows XP listed. Its just a flash program running a wrapper. Should be easy enough to fix to be honest. Guess ill go back to the browser version. Unfortunatly i tend to forget about it since i mostly use steam to play my games. Its an awesome game, shame you made it in such a lousy language/environment. A native executable would have been nice.

Just FYI, latest patch actually made game playable on windows XP, which just shows that you have no clue what you are doing. Your game design is awesome! Programming... not so much.

We have some more information about the black screen problem which you could try.

Please look for the following file and move or rename it:

<your user folder>/AppData/Roaming/com.bluemanchu.CardHunter/LocalStore/#SharedObjects/CardHunterSteamApp.swf/DesktopOptions.sol

If that still doesn't work, you could also try the same thing with these two files:

<your user folder>\AppData\Roaming\com.bluemanchu.CardHunter\Local Store\#SharedObjects\CHoptions.sol

Hi! I tried all the things, and was still getting a black screen, so I uninstalled and when I reinstalled it I was still getting the black screen.

This game ran fine before the last update. I've since reinstalled it with no effect. I've tried renaming the DesktopOptions.sol file, no effect. The other two files you list are not found in my directories (CHlogin and CHoptions).

How can I access my steam account party from the browser version of the game?
