mauve manticore #27 "Stupid Geomancer"
seriously...how the FRIG do you beat this level?!

you have a single guy with 16 hp. his deck is all lava pool, hot spot , cards

and there are 3 enemies on victory squares

an imp with 10 hp in front of my start square,
an idol with 18 hp just off to the right
and a fire spirit with 15 hp waaaay the frap off to the left.

if I put the damage floors under them, i can kill them but I can't get rid of them fast enough.
because I don't draw enough movement cards

it starts me off in front of the imp, I drop a damage floor under him but then I have to end the round for the imp to take the damage

and then the computer gets 1 victory point.
it has 1/5

in the second round I can drop a damage floor under the flame idol on the right, then I have to end round, the computer gets another victory point, it now has 2/5

the imp dies, but the idol only takes 8, dropping him down to 10 hp, then the idol heals itself .

I use telekinesis to pull the idol off the victory square, and it uses shuffle, moves back on

then the computer gets another victory point. 3/5

sometimes I get lucky and i get paralyze and can pull the idol off the square and I can control a vicory square, then the computer doesn't get a victory point, but then the idol starts pelting me with firebolts that stack burn DoTs on me and I HAVE to stand there and take it because I don't dare move off of the victory square.

after 20 tries, I finally got the perfect draw to be able to kill the idol, but then I have the spirit all the way to the left.

it takes 2 movement cards in a row to leapfrog to the next victory square, so I have 8 rounds passing until I can draw 2 at once.

but then the next victory square is so far off, I need 3 movements to get over to the victory square in front of the spirit, so we have 20 more rounds drawing and discarding until I get that perfect draw again.

I get over there and drop a lava pool on it and

it does fire bolt, fireball, firebolt, stacks dots and does tons of damage and i'm dead.

so the fire spirit has all attacks that do 8 damage and it just stores them, it saves the attacks and waits for me to come close and then kills me in 2 shots.

if I go for the fire spirit first it just kills me.

and then half the time, if I go for the idol, it has a fire immunity charm on it, and the card says "keep" and so I then have to use the acid pool but the acid pool only does 3 damage which it immediateley heals

this is impossible

well...I did get past it, finally after scumming it over 100 times. and there's a 2nd level attached, where you have 2 dogs behind 2 doors and there are 6 "phylacteries" under your control but they cant do anything, if you break them, you lose the level.

I moved one dog out the side and killed a beetle thing and then spend 20 turns bashing down the door to let the other dog out and then I killed the 2 zombies, but now I have no idea wtf to do.

there's a human lord and another dog trapped behind a velvet rope and they just do their own thing , controlled by the a.i. and I can't figure out how to trigger a win here

I gave up on this level as well. I couldn't be bothered with it after four attempts. I'm just going to leave it alone, as I can do without the frustration.

it's doable. apparently, the mauve manticore levels are all puzzle levels that require thinking outside the box and doing weird things t=that you wouldn't normally do and finding weird card combinations.

it says the levels are designed by other players.
I guess that's why they are so hard. whenever I play a game that lets the players design their own levels, there's always that elite group who thinks the main game is too easy so finds ways to make it as hard as possible and then when someone complains it's too hard, they say they made it easy.

I'm working my way through them, I did #27,26,25,24,23 and 22.

I was stuck on 25 for a while , it is so ridiculously stupid. it puts your guys in a spot where they have 5 turns to reach a door but there is difficult terrain there preventing you from getting there in time. and then you also have 2 mages that can't even move onto the terrain for some reason and I couldn't even figure out why they gave them to you..and then I googled it and I see people going

"oh it's so obvious, all you need to do is a pok trog to bogg"

"wtf is a pok trog tobogg?"

"What?! you don't know what the pok trog tobogg is?! everyone knows what the pok trog tobogg is! wtf is wrong with you? have you been living under a rock?"

I play these the Mauve Manticores a couple of times an move on.
Obviously card drops make a huge difference and you tend to not be able to win if you don't have the correct card assortment in your hand at the correct time.

Some I manage to beat, but I wouldn't bother to play again, because I know it was lucky card drops that made the win more than any stratagy that I could use.

I would call these "killer dungeons" and somethign that you are not really intended to be able to beat.

It's something to do when you are bored with the campaign questing or PVP.

Just like you beat any Mauve Manticore, you just keep restarting until you get the perfect opening hand because anything else and you've already lost.
