How the SOCOM community is being overshadowed by PC players.
Anyone else noticing a trend here... Seems the "true SOCOM" players aren't being listened to and the ones who are running out of games to play are constantly overloading the boards here and elsewhere with fake positive reviews. Can i get an, 'Amen'?

I estimate about 75% of the so-called SOCOM Community aren't even 'here' yet. They are all console players. I myself bought a gaming PC just to try this out. And i hope in a few months this game feels like a Spiritual Successor to SOCOM should.

Those of us who are genuinely SOCOM lovers be sure to leave fair and honest reviews! Let's take back our Community and help this game become great!

In conclusion, I'm disappointed. Great thoughts and ideas behind the game, I'm just not seeing the practical side just yet. It seems this game has a LONG road ahead before it feels like it should.

I don't understand the obsession with consoles, back in ps2 days, even ps3, sure, but pcs are so cheap now and so much further ahead, its just pointless having a console except for a few exclusives.

Back in December you could make a gaming PC thatd perform better than a PS4 for less money on top of all the benefits a PC brings over a console... and that was pretty much 6 months ago. Then you add on how they tried to shaft people with always online DRM and spy cameras that need to be plugged in for the console to operate etc etc... both companies charge for you to play multiplayer online, on top of your internet bill... and Sony even admitted that they didnt have to charge for that to be viable, that they are just doing it because Xbox does it so screw the players.

Ive owned pretty much 2 of every generations consoles back to when I had an Atari... I owned 2 PS3's and an xbox360 on top of a 5,000$ gaming computer.. and I can safely say I will never, ever... EVER buy a console again.

This is a troll level argument. CoD MW2 on consoles was killed by hackers and most games have a decent anti-cheat, I have never had a game where hackers ruined my experience to any degree besides ones that are in early access or CS:GO where they happen to entirely comprise the top ranks apparently.

Suggesting a lack of any cheaters is the most important thing in online gaming is offensively ignorant. Quality of gameplay and server latency are the obvious most important factors. Consoles cant even handle the current tier games graphics or run at 60fps.

H1Z1 is hands down my favorite game right now for its Battle Royale mode, which happens to be infested by hackers. They banned 30,000 hackers in one week (early access title) and yet its still by far the most enjoyable game.. probably that Ive ever played (in nearly 30 years of gaming) and it easily has the most hackers Ive had to deal with in any game. Its fun killing 5 chinese hackers and hearing them curse you in a foreign language :D

Are we discussing the game or platforms? If you think you're good with the stick and will dominate pc players like you did on consoles? Of course not. lol

And by the way, that headshotking is actually a known hacker famous on SOF forums and the community already. Coming from a kickstarter founder... f logic. He was even an hypocrite ingame and i believe he's banned already. We all know when consoles get hacked you don't get this kind of support from sony or microsoft.

Coming from a kickstarter founder... this for me is a perfect example on how destructive the old socom community can be.

Said that, keep on the rant. Its really interesting and entertaining to read.

Of course...this would be the topic at the very top of the list the day I come over to check out how people feel about this game. Derp derp console durp PS4 derp.

Top 10 on socom 2 were hackers on playstation. I remember the top 1 S N A K E E Y E S. He was kill on sight for my clan. People used to teach me the hacks, one popular one was making the desert eagle an automatic.
When i went back a few years ago before they closed the servers, it was a hackfest.

The benefit of PC is that people can own and administrate their own servers. You can host your own server and ban cheaters as you see them whereas on a console, cheaters cannot be stopped so easily. Now, like strafeman said, it can lead to abuse of power, but I believe that the community can police itself; if you don't like how a server is run, you can play in another.

Positive review here, in the closed beta, been watching them add stuff regularly and improve the game... no reason to believe that shouldnt continue. The TRS crowd thinks they have a monopoly on the Socom series because they were never able to let it go years ago when it went downhill. That doesn't make you a true socomer, it just means you have some serious separation issues. I'm sure there are a couple reasonable TRS people, i just havent met them yet... all they have done so far is spread hate for no reason. If you dont like the game go move on and play your dumb insurgency mod. See how that goes, but leave the true socom fans alone.

People just like that super fast mouse controls, 360 turns, pin point accuracy. So who are the noobs? I'll take a controller over mouse anytime. But, that's two different stories, to be honest and IMO, KB/M users are the noobs...

OK, I seriously can't tell if you're trolling. Sweet baby jesus I hope so

How is this trolling? LOL Me and Eagle rarely agree but on this im totally in agreement. I would love if M/KB was banned lmao and controllers only but hey thats me

Truly, i can see both sides of this argument. The thing is, On PC, the good is guaranteed to be overshadowed by the bad. Hence the title of my post.

Yeah you have the opportunity to make mods or have your own server but in that lies the problem. It gives a lot of power to the user and since SOCOMs in the past had a significant "cheating" problem it presents the possibility that it will be even worse for PC. That could scare away all the potential SOCOM Community members right there. Like, who wants a repeat of the final days of SOCOM 2 with people flying around shooting automatic grenade launchers and freezing rooms? lmao

This was damn near 2 decades ago. Did you play Combined Assault or Confrontation? The most that happened was at the end people had different character skins and/or lagswitched. The security measures on PS2 were just lackluster we all know that.

Solid post. and yeah hes also affiliated with SoF via the game trailer. no wonder there are so many "good reviews" by him.

And to be clear. I still hold out hope for this game. Just at the current rate of patch release it will be about a year before it is a competitive masterpiece like the SOCOM series were.

Well said. There are alot of things that will make or break this game. Cheating is not one of them. Cheating will be around on ANY game.

I was good on the sticks. But i remember that the transition was not smooth at all. Specially on fast paced games. Pc players have way better accuracy.

Just don't play too much. If you get a grip on pc gaming and won't go back. lol

LOL yup.
