The Blue Crystal of Hearthhollow Mine, what am I missing?

A. The crystal. I've explored the whole place, what gives?

I explored the mine and used up all the crystals before I got the quest so I thought I accidentally spent the quest crystal but if that's not the case then I simply can't find it either. Searched the whole place.

Are you sure you are in the right mine?

The mine for the quest only has 1 crystal in it. It is to the north of the mine that has around 10 crystals.

I was in the mine indicated by the quest mark. I found another smaller mine with a lone miner who asked me to kill Lord Whatshisface but I didn't find any "quest crystal" there either. Haven't killed the lord btw.

Yeah it's the last one before you open the door by a lever.
I used it 1st time too. Luckily had a save from 30 minutes or so prior.
Quest items not being 'sectioned off' in the inventory is taking some getting used to.

There's two mines with crystals that seem match the crystal quest map marker. The right mine has only one crystal and at entrance a panel mentions "Hearthhollow Mine".

To find the right mine you need follow precisely the quest paths indications.

The mine with the lone miner is a third mine, I think its panel at entrance is "Abandoned Mine".

I'm a bit confused because I'm pretty sure Hearthhollow Mine has quite a few crystals in it, like half a dozen. The blue crystal formations can actually be looted.

Either way I probably used up the quest crytal then.

The crystal he wants is a +3 to intelligence. It takes 25 lore to use it (anyone in your party can have the lore stat and it works for all members). The reward for the quest is ~500gp and ~40exp, so it's not too much. The crystal itself is actually superior to the reward imo. I do not recall its exact location but I do not believe it is behind any secret door. The mine itself is just to the west of the northern pass (though I forget exactly how to get there). There is also another quest related to this guy (you find it in the mines to the west of the mines you were supposed to search, a wolfman gives it to you--he's a leftist and he's cool) so it's not critical. The mines are both on the northern side of the pass. Just hug the mountain wall as best you can while going west/south.

I honestly preferred the wolfman's quest as helping a capitalist is disgusting.

Well, I was definitely in the right mine --it says Hearthhollow on a sign out front. Tons of lootable, but empty, crystal containers, no actual crystal.

I think it is in a room with 6 or 7 formations. One of them has a +3 Intellect crystal. If you have a high persuasion, you can tell the dude you searched the mine and still keep the crystal for yourself. That's what I did :) Kordanor has some let's play vids. Find the one of that mine and see where he found it at. They're in German, but the text is all english so you should be able to figure it out.

I've been to that room, they were all empty. :( A glitch perhaps?
EDIT: GAAAAH! Such an idiot, it was in the *next* room. Didn't spot the shadowy corridor at the bottom, but this time spotted the gap in the mini-map.

Nope. The quest mine only has 1 crystal. To get to that mine you have to leave the town by heading left to the fork in the road, then up and right and back accross to the mountain chain.

It's not the mine you find when passing from the 1st town through the mountains on the way to the left.

Yeap JL you are in the wrong mine, in the right mine there's only one crystal to find.

Again follow exactly the path described by the quest. And find a panel "Hearthhollow Mine".

For me the quest direction for this quest was perfectly clear. But yeah follow the compass is more fun for some players, I'll never understand Oblivion fans, a crap for me.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong but I'm quite sure I found a lot of crystals there.
