Definately worth it.
I don't remember how much mount and blade fire and sword was, or napoleonic wars, but this is about the same price, and it's an indie group that's doing this, i think they definately deserve it.
Also the Dev said they're definately hoping for mods, making it an entire standalone game unlike the other mount and blade games that were not M&B 1 and M&B warband.
They're doing stuff with the engine we could never dream of happening.
But yeah the gameplay you described seems to match this, take a look at the trailer by the way, looks sick.
Technically, the proper term is Premium Mod. And they're generally of a higher quality then community mods, since most community mods are a hobby worked on in someone's spare time, rather then their job.
This is also a standalone version that doesn't require any other purchases to play.
Future Modding though is worrisome, as F&S's modding community is basically non-existent, despite being on a technically superior version of the same engine of Warband's.
(NW is just a regular premium mod and needs Warband to play).
That aside, I'd definitely enjoy this game, there are some M&B mods that have oceanic combat, and I've always felt they lacked something crucial, and that's smooth gameplay. M&B is inherently clunky and I honestly hope this mod's oceanic combat can deliver.
Theres alot of elements that make the game similar but battle is not one of them. If you like games with micro management opportunities though like Cuthroats, the parts that arn't combat like trading tend to feel similar although the supply and demand are amazingly stuck and non changing forever with no functioning supply/demand system.
Long story short you might LOVE this game if you liked cuthroats but I don't know you personally or what elements you loved of cuthroats.
Cuthroats wasn't perfect though it was amazingly buggy for its time in places where it bothered me (Like hijacking a town putting a govener in only for 3 seconds later the town reverts right back) and now it doesnt work on any newer windows systems because I still have my old disk of it and it CTD on start up.
If anyone reads this and ever learns how to make it work on a new computer Please don't hesitate to tell me That game was a huge part of my childhood and taught the 10-13 year old me about politics and economics
Cutthroats: Terror on the High Seas works on my windows 10 core i5 intel hd 4000 gpu running under capability mode 640 x 480 as xp program and administrator but cant find any patches for the game. i found that there is a 7.0 patch but cant find it pls hlp.
u have to use DxWnd :) and give a few spins with the direct-x settings and ddraw settings
