The optimal way to play this game is to set the scaling setting in the graphics driver setting to full heigth while keeping the aspect ratio of the game (scaling setting name differs from video card manufacturer to manafacturer). That means with a widescreen display the full heigth of the display is used but you get black borders on the right/left side.
What options are available as scaling options (I have a AMD video card so I don't know how they are called - but apart from that with NVidia you have the same scaling options)?
And as I said - the resolution can't be changed. You can only get the 800x600 game resolution upscaled to cover a bigger or more fitting part of the screen.
And activated "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs"?
If so the video card (GPU) and not the monitor (display) should do the scaling, that means the video card should upscale the resolution and the monitor should not switch to 800x600.
With the video card doing the scaling you have the following options:
- Aspect ratio: example image[bakhtosh.bplaced.net]
- Full-screen: example image[bakhtosh.bplaced.net]
- No scaling: example image[bakhtosh.bplaced.net]
In case someone using an ATI / AMD card is reading this thread:
To force the video card do the scaling you have to activate "Enable GPU scaling".
With the video card doing the scaling you have the following options:
- Maintain spect ratio: example image[bakhtosh.bplaced.net]
- Scale image to full panel size: example image[bakhtosh.bplaced.net]
- Use centered timings: example image[bakhtosh.bplaced.net]
Anyway...
I haven't heard about this problem before. But depending on the language version some people encountered other graphical artifacts. Many on them can be fixed with this work-around:Link[www.gog.com]
Maybe it also helps in your case.
