Can't finish chapter 1 - Bug?

So I managed to get into Williams study and done everything I possibly can, including unlocking the door with the makeshift knife / key but can't leave.

Finally gave in and checked a walkthrough and turns out Williams diary should be in the drawer of his rolltop desk but there is nothing there apart from the musical box? Am I missing something obvious?

(Yes I've zoomed out from the rolltop desk close up and selected the drawer and still nothing clickable).

Have you solved the problem? Right click on the drawer.

I'm having the same problem--no amount of right or left clicking seems to work on any part of the desk or drawer.

EDIT: Step back from the desk, right-click the drawer. I'm ashamed of how long it took me to figure that out.

Ha, I'd forgotten all about this. I think I gave up on it not being able to get any further. Will have to fire it up again and take a second look.
