So about the ending *spoilers*
I wouldnt mind buying another game that gets Rufus and Goal back togather, it wouldnt surprise me if Rufus survived or somehow got cloned again. IM SO INVESTED IN MAKING THEM TOUCH BUTTS. I love/hate the ending, i love the ending but hate that it is forced. there should be another choice to make it actually special.

if given choice then there would only be one "true" ending the happy go lucky ending where bad pepole die and good pepole live happly ever after and nothing bad ever happens.
look at ME2 the game that most pepole consider the best in the sires. how many pepole do you think actully ported over a save where anyone died durring the suiside mission on thier first playthrogh of me3?
id hazered to gusse near zero.
most pepole replayed till they were able to keep everyone alive.
or just skiped the effort and used guids to keep them all alive.
also when it came out that orginaly it was going to be possible to save both ash and kadian in ME1 everyone online was dispointed this was not kept in and said they thoght the game would be better if given this choice.

the deponia games were never about choice you barly effect any part of the plot the whole way throgh. all you effect is the way pepole respond so why should there be a choice to fundmentaly change the entire ending?

I'm NGL I just finished the game (about 30 seconds before posting) and I'm gutted that Cletus (I assume it was him and not Argus) survived instead of Rufus, having just spent 15+ hours trying to get Rufus to Elysium. Absolutely gutted. I echo your plea, OP - Daedalic, give us another game (or even an epilogue) that allows us to finally get Goal and Rufus together. I would spend a lot of currency on it!

I actually really like this ending to be honest. During Rufus's fall, I even thought to myself: if this is how it all ends, I am OK with this.

For me, Rufus is never "meant" to be the hero that does everything right and saves everyone. He is the hero, but he hurts everyone around him. Rufus is a self-centered idiot and ego-maniac. I mean, look at what Rufus does to the baby dolphins and kids. You can argue it is because he is genetically progammed to have no regard for life, whether it is his or someone else's. In a way, Rufus doesn't deserve to be on Elysium, and he is never meant to reach Elysium.

Like what Lady Goal said, Rufus will never be happy on Elysium. He carries Deponia within him. It is more about Rufus defying the impossible rather than Rufus being a good guy. In the end, he does the selfless act of self-sacrifice (Barry was actually right about that being the only right option. There was not way for Goal to identify Rufus. Everytime Rufus proves himself to be the true one, Cletus and Argus can just spin the rotor resetting the situation.) What made Rufus different from Cletus and Argus was that he carries hope.

Just like how Rufus is left behind and the fate of Deponia is handed over to Goal in the first game of the entire trilogy, Rufus sacrifices himself and once again leaves the fate of Deponia to Goal (and Cletus). Interesting enough, Cletus from then on has to play the role of Rufus, mirroring Rufus's action of disguising himself as Cletus.

TL;DR: Rufus really didn't belong on Elysium. A classic happy ending wouldn't be as good. I liked the ending.

I wouldn't be suprised if they created another trilogy based on Elysium or trying to fly to Utopia. Rufus may even have survived that fall from orbit (or his brain did so he can create more clones)

I agree with what you've said, but I don't know what it is, I just felt a certain...hollowness at the end. I guess because after all of that, 25-30+ hours of the game, the ending just felt empty to me.

Loved the game, but now I'm depressed... I need some baby barf... or better yet a cliche-fairytale happy ending. Huzza, I want to cry.

There definitely is something missing though. The ending does feel a bit hollow. To be entirely honest, the reason I thought to myself "if this is how it all ends, I'm fine with it" was that I actually thought there were going to be more to the story. I really hope there is a 4th game.

Rufus may not deserve Elysium but he doesnt deserve what he got either.

Just finished it. The episodic versions anyway.

I'm thinking they'll make a "Deponia 2" (since in a way this entire saga was Deponia 1 just told in 3 parts). Hell maybe the next one will be called "Elysium" and be made in 3 parts also. Just speculating of course.

There's way too many loose ends for this to be a satisfying conclusion by any stretch of the immagination. Sure Rufus has his arc but there's no resolution to the story, theres too many loose ends to the point that it feels like the ending of part 1 and part 2.

Thats what makes me think that there will be a Deponia 2/Elysium Trilogy some day. Continuing the saga and possibly following Goal this time with Rufus showing up at some point. Again total speculation.

If The Whispered World can get a sequel when that story was completely tied up at the end then surely this game should get a follow up also.

I don't know how connected the story of TWW2 will be to its predecessor but you get my point.
