It's unplayable for so many people and the guys at Daedalic, despite seeming to know this, aren't doing a lot to support it.
They released another game on Deponia series, and the standalone releases apparently run well.
I stopped playing this game waiting for proper fixes, but it looks like I'm not going to play it anymore. Which is a shame, since I was really enjoying it...
I asked for a refund, but Steam reffused considering the time I spent "playing" the game, even if quite a lot of it was spent fiddling around with the game files trying to fix my issues.
Not only does this remove the player from the experience of the game but it also feels like cheating. Why stop there? Why not just load the last save game, watch the ending and be done with it? Why are the publishers not taking responsibility for these game-breaking bugs and fixing them? Why is the publisher still accepting money for this title release and not addressing it's issues?
Maybe give people who purchased "The Complete Journey" the ability to download the individual episodes as well? I hear that those work perfectly.
I'd second that!
and this is the biggest downfall about this. I spend hours stuck in the game not knowing that it was a game breaking bug. So now everytime i get stuck on a puzzle for too long I need to google if its another game breaking bug or if i just didnt solve it? this ruins the expierence and thrill of solving puzzles.
I would like the ability to download the individual episodes as well, so i can play the way it was intended to be played without all the bugs. this seems like a pretty reasonable request.
If the bug won't or can't be fixed, can we send you *our* save file, and have that be fixed instead?

Following another post's suggestion, I simply restarted the game (technically this is now my third time around, although I never made it as far as the pigeons years ago on my first attempt), and some not terribly unreasonable amount of time later, the pigeon puzzle is working and I'm now well into the second game ("Chaos on Deponia").
For anyone else that runs into this bug, I'd recommend this as the "real" work-around. And many of my other annoyances from the first game (apart from Rufus's characteristic selfishness, of course) have been improved in the second game, making it a much more enjoyable experience so far.

@godprobe, could you elaborate on my fix. When you say you "simply restarted the game" did you:
-Turn the game off and turn it back on
-Delete your save game and start a new game
-Uninstall the game and start over
-Something else?
Could you also link to the other suggestion post that worked for you?
Thanks ahead of time.
When I first encountered the broken pigeon puzzle, the pigeons weren't even showing up in their coops.
The second time through to that point, they showed up, and the puzzle worked as intended.
Again, this isn't a real fix. This is just starting all over from the beginning of the game and not encountering the bug. It's definitely still a game-breaking bug that the developers need to fix.
You're invitory wont match exactly and have to guess if the person who made the save did the task or not. Luckly I never encounter any other game breaking bugs after this.
Of course I'll stop playing this game and won't purchase its sequels (I had the inention to do so, because in fact I was enjoying the game because it is actually a good game).
What irritates me the most is not the bug itself (bugs can be corrected). It's the shabby and non-professional offcial solution provided by the developers. Loading a saved game downloaded from the official web??? I need to point out that the pleasure of point and click adventures comes from the satisfaction of solving puzzles by yourself. Developers are taking away from their users the main enjoyment of the game.
I also see in the game summary that some bug fixes and some languages were added as of August 2019. However, this one remains uncorrected! As a worker of the software development industry, this makes me think that Daedalic is unable to reproduce this failure by themselves and thus have no idea about how to fix it, giving to me a poor professional image.
I'll do as the other user did and restart the game from the beginning, as the last chance I'm giving the game because I had a lot of bugs before this, like vanishing npcs, muting sounds, glitches and inventory mouse clicking problems.
Well, I don't recommend the game at all.
