Game will not start?

Everytime I try to start this, it starts to open, my screen goes black, it resizes, and then the game goes away. (crashes). I never get an error message, it just shuts off. If I try to start it again, the same thing happens. Anyone know what's causing this/how to fix this?

The error is always here and nobody fixes or able to find the solution. This is sad.

The issue is it's an old game with old anti-pirating tactics built in!

The game needs to run with an "original disc" loaded in the disk drive. Problem is there's no physical disc!

You're going to have to create one virtually.

Use Imgburn to convert the game's .exe, which is found in it's the game folder ("steamapps/common"), to an .iso file.

Mount the .iso onto a virtual drive (Windows 10 built-in, just double click the .iso file and it'll auto-mount onto a new drive).

Then run the game from either Steam or the desktop -- the installed game will search to see if there's the disc in the drive, then run with no problem.

Hello everyone, I was able to get this to launch on windows 10! What I had to do was download a virtual CD/DVD Drive and mount any ISO file on my PC to it. I emulate ps2 games so I just mounted one of those. From there the game was able to boot up immediately, note you cannot tab out and the windows key seems to be the only way in and out of the program after that.

Hey guys, for many of you I know the ISO solution will be your option, but if you have an external cd/dvd drive, literally just plug it into the USB port, don't need to have anything in it, and run the game. It's worked finally after years hahaha

As others have said, it's some anti-piracy incompatibility when it sees there is no disc. But just having an empty disc drive plugged in solves it.

Can confirm this works, all I had to do was plug in my USB disc drive and the game booted up. Much quicker than going through the ISO/mounting stuff.

The Demon Tools lite hack in the YouTube Video below does make it work!

Steps:
Find C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Pajama Sam 4\PajamaLRS.exe
Right Click > Properties > Compatibility > Windows XP > Ok
Install DAEMON Tools Lite (https://www.daemon-tools.cc/downloads#page)
Run and add a new virtual optical drive.

The real reason why this works is because the game has some anti piracy no cd checks. All you need is the exe (for steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Pajama Sam 4\PajamaLRS.exe) to be put into an iso and mounted with your favorite mounter. I use ImgBurn + Virtual Clonedrive (lightweight non-invasive). tested and working.

For folks not wanting to mess with the virtual CD solutions you can also just plug in a USB CD or DVD drive (probably blu-rayy too?). Game crashed for us like everyone else but after plugging in an external USB DVD drive it launches. Still a little whacking. THe mouse cursor is huge but it still works.

Thank you! One plug in of my USB DVD drive later, my kids can continue on their Pyjama Sam journey!

Simple. The game is just looking for a CD drive. Download and install "Virtual Clonedrive" from elby.ch/products/vcd.html. Its free software. It will create a virtual CD drive in your This PC directory. After installation completed start the game again. Easier and faster alternative for Daemon Tools, which is not free.
