[SPOILERS] ending
At the end, is the planet eating you the only ending? Feels like there should be more to it.

Yes I believe that's the only ending, at least so far. The author said in another thread that it would be nice to have an alternate ending in the future.

Yeah, it locks you in with a tractor beam or something. LOL

yeh, the build up is great, but the cosmic horror aspect gets kinda kneecapped by the fact that there is no building up of the general situation. You get the other ones that don't look like a planet, you get the one that kills you, the lore is limited and it was not really replayable

I'm not sure this counts as a game currently since it either lacks any mechanic or has one but fails to introduce it. I thought of things like trying to take the last photo from a distance or without the life support active but there is nothing to indicate anything affects anything. The ending is already signalled by the in-game text. And the clunky controls that were somewhat charming in the early game are a deterrent to trying different tactics. The last >>impact<< switches the life support back on: this might be an automated feature of the spacecraft or a bug. The "heartbeat" sfx on the gray planets doesn't correspond to them being dangerous. So this seems to be a "load up to 30 bitmaps and then get eaten" simulator. The latter part being optional: you can stay in limbo forever as long as you don't use the camera. Why does the entity only respond to being photographed? Is it a cosmic celebrity?

It could possibly be an organism with the ability to detect electrical pulses and hunts for similar organisms by detecting electrical fields. For example, sharks have what is known as ampullae of Lorenzini which allows them to hunt via electric fields.

The only thing that might prevent this from being true would be that the organism would usually need to be in a medium where electricity could be conducted, like an atmosphere or a liquid. That, or the organism could have its surface being covered in a similar organ to ampullae of Lorenzini, which would allow the organism to detect close proximity electrical fields.

My guess is the initial movement caught its attention, possibly through some cue such as small shifts in light, and as you get closer, the organism is able to detect the electrical signatures due to the close proximity. From there, it grabs onto the vessel, thinking it is prey. After all, your vessel is emitting notable electric signals through the camera and life support systems being active. As it latches on, the thrusters can't overpower the organism's tendrils, so all you can do is watch and hope it lets go. As you continue to be pulled closer, you take photographs to document the experience. Unfortunately for you, the organism then detects the faint electrical pulse from your camera and your life support systems, thus reinforcing the belief that your vessel is indeed food.

Now, this could theoretically be countered by turning off the camera immediately along with life support, only turning it back on at the last second to save your life, which could possibly result in the organism losing interest as it doesn't detect that you are food. If this were to work, it would mean that the organism cannot detect your heartbeat, as the electrical signal is too faint for it to notice. This would be useful for later space voyagers as they would be able to learn what limits these organisms can detect electrical fields and would be more successful at avoiding or escaping them if necessary. I think it would make an interesting alternate ending.

At the end of the day though, that's just my working theory.
my question is why do I have to pay money for a 3 min game thats just take 10 pics and get eaten simulator
Yeah another ending would be nice tbh

yeah even tho i didn't try it i watched a vid on youtube and wha if you could turn back, like head off the map and that would be an ending
plus they should make a sequel to the game where the end creatures can appear at any moment and there is a system to scare it to stop.
It'd be better. if 6/7 is the end, to play credits when it's all done and you're eaten. Now it's kinda confusing
