Is this for Fields of Glory or Dunes of War?
Fields of Glory. We've never been able to get Dunes of War to run on either Windows 10 or Windows 11.
If you do some Googling, you can find a demo of Dunes of War that *does* work, though. It's about a 300Mb file. The version number of the code is 1.44.07. Versions 1.44.12 and up are the ones that do not work.
What we currently have here is a mix of the Steam version of Fields of Glory plus some files from an earlier version, 1.43.85, that I found on a DVD I got off of eBay. Arthur Bomb figured out which files were needed to fix the Steam version.
But, as you can see, it's really temperamental, and some folks are having problems getting it to work. I myself am having trouble getting dgVoodoo (needed for animating the tank treads) to work on Windows 11 24H2. I'm not sure yet if it's the version of Windows or if I have some other gremlin causing trouble in that build. dgVoodoo works correctly on my 23H2 build.
I know it's a stupid question but have you tried dgVoodoo 2.83 ?
I'm not having any problems just as I mentioned before. That is except trying to get through the first American mission on the beach. lol. Tried at least 50 times already. Never can get to the end of that mission without dying. I have made it through the German / Russian portions of the game.
Anyhow. I'm using v2.83 with it set to Geforce 9800 GT, VRam 1024 Mb, Resolution forced to 1920x1080, Antialiasing forced to 8x, and Forcing Vsync. No other changes and no compatibility changes either.
Everything is running fine.
By the way, there is a Demo of Dunes of War on the Internet Archive ... but I don't know what version. In case anyone want's to check it out.

I know I mentioned in a earlier post that the game would crash if I hit a landmine or got nailed for any reason ... But that has all stopped. If I made changes from when it was crashing I'm unaware of them.

Wow -- that path doesn't even exist in the game's installation. I will do some digging on this and will report back.
The only other thing that I might suggest, if you have not already done so (and if you have and already told me, I apologize) would be to just uninstall the game, wipe the directory completely clean, and start over, following Arthur's instructions on the first page of this discussion thread carefully.
Some games/programs have an installation log that shows every file system action that is part of the installation -- not sure if that is the case here, but I will check.
I don't have Google Drive, but Arthur does -- i'm not sure if there are any file size limitations, but I'm wondering if we could take all of 1.43.85 and just roll it up in one big tarball as you suggested earlier. Because 1.43.85, the game installation from the "Xplosiv" DVD package that is bundled with 1.44.12 of Dunes of War, works both in Windows 10 and Windows 11 as is without any modifications, and supports the dgVoodoo patch for the tank treads as well. I will talk to Arthur about this.
In the meantime, I will see if I can figure out what is causing that error -- I've never seen it here with mine.
There are no stupid questions about this game, as far as I'm concerned. It's one of the white whales here, along with Dunes of War and Operation Flashpoint: Red River, games I've spent way too much time trying to get working without Windows 7/10. Ugh.
I have tried multiple versions of dgVoodoo, 2.83.2 (what the author is calling the most stable) is what I'm currently using, and unfortunately he has taken down all of the earlier versions from downloading, though I have a few going all the way back to 2.52 or so. The minute I drop D3D8.dll into the game directory on the 24H2 build (this one I'm typing on now) it crashes at launch with the access violation error. I also have a 23H2 build, the main rig with the i7 and 4090, and it works fine there. So I am not sure at this point if it's some sort of buried OS problem or dgvoodoo incompatibility with 24H2. There are a few other games I have tried it with that I have also not gotten it working, so it's not just PEA.
This is an upgrade installation from Windows 10 with the 24H2 ISO on a thumb drive. If I get suitably motivated I might try a clean OS install from a blank slate, to rule that out.
Wow -- THANK YOU for finding the problem and reporting back; I had never even considered alternate languages as a source of trouble,
I made a tarball (I guess I should call it a rarball) for the 1.43.85 installation -- this is a standalone non-Steam version. I think that I should also track down any registry keys that the installation created, and include these in a separate file for importing, as i'm not 100% that these binaries are fully portable.
Unfortunately this version only supports English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.
i'm probably also potentially starting to encroach on "Arr, Matey" issues with this, so we should probably start thinking about it in terms of being a really big patch.
Glad to hear that you also got dgVoodoo working -- the tank track animation makes a big difference, and it also cleans up some border sloppiness in the intro videos. Plus you can also set improved resolutions and maintain the correct aspect ratio for them.
Dunes of War is going to be really tough to fix, if we ever do. It seems to be a deeply embedded issue with the game engine itself, probably beyond DirectX or video, that we haven't yet found any sort of wrapper that can isolate it from the operating system enough to get it running. You can always try out the demo, which I think is just the first level of the game... it's a free download and it runs on all operating systems because it's an older version than the official full game releases.
