FIX Play in Windows 10 - SOLUCION Jugar en Windows 10

If the game does not start in Windows 10, follow these steps:

1.Open the folder where "Panzer Elite Action Fields of Glory" was installed:
"...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Panzer Elite Action Fields of Glory\"

2.Right click over file "PEA.exe", select "Properties"

3.Select "Compatibility" tab

4.Mark:
x "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select:
"Windows XP (Service Pack 3)

5.Also mark these options:
x "Override high DPI scaling behaviour" - Scaling performed by: Application

x "Disable fullscreen optimizations"

6.Clic "Ok"

EDIT: I Edit to add the FIX to solve the error about the no animation of track-wheels (Thank you to Dot Matrix and plasmajam for the solution):

7.Download "dgVoodoo2", decompress and look for file "D3D8.dll" (don't worry about antivirus possible alarm, it is a false positive, the file is ok)

8.Copy "D3D8.dll" inside the game folder (it will solve the initial not animation of tank track-wheels)

9.If none of the above steps fixes the game launch, try this one:
-Open the game folder, the path will be similar to:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Panzer Elite Action Fields of Glory\"
-Right mouse button on the "settings.db" file and choose the option "Open with ..."
-Choose "Show applications"> and choose "Notepad".
-Look at "main settings"> "[settings] main", and where it says:

fullscreen = 1

change it to:

fullscreen = 0

-Choose from the notepad menu:
"File"> "Save", and close the file
-Try to start the game now.
-This will make the game start in windowed mode, making it possible to make configuration changes to adapt it to your system.

Si el juego no se inicia en Windows 10, seguir estos pasos:

EDITADO: Añado la solución del error por el que las cadenas y ruedas no tienen animación (Gracias a Dot Matrix y a plasmajam por la solución):

7.Descargar "dgVoodoo2", descomprimir y buscar el archivo "D3D8.dll" (no preocuparse si el antivirus diese una posible alerta, es un falso positivo, el archivo está bien, pero lo detecta como potencialmente peligroso por la forma que tiene de funcionar con los gráficos)

8.Copiar el archivo "D3D8.dll" dentro del directorio del juego (solucionará el error de la animación de las ruedas y cadenas)

9.Si ninguno de los pasos anteriores arregla el inicio del juego, prueba este:
-Abre la carpeta del juego, la ruta será similar a:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Panzer Elite Action Fields of Glory\"
-Botón derecho del ratón sobre el archivo "settings.db" y elegir la opción "Abrir con..."
-Elegir "Mostrar aplicaciones" > y elegir "Bloc de notas".
-Buscar en "main settings" > "[settings] main" , y donde pone:

fullscreen = 1

cambiarlo a:

fullscreen = 0

-Elegir en el menú del bloc de notas:
"Archivo" > "Guardar", y cerrar el archivo
-Intenta iniciar el juego ahora.
-Esto hará que el juego inicie en modo ventana, siendo posible realizar los cambios de configuración para adaptarlo a tu sistema.

That sounds identical to the physical media copy I have -- FoG works, DoW doesn't. A vew of the log files generated after running the games should indicate the version of each.

For anyone struggling to get the steam version of this game working on windows 10, might I suggest trying the version of the game available on Green Man Gaming, which is currently 80% off. I'm not entirely sure why but this version seems to work just fine on my windows 10 PC, where as the steam version will not even launch.

You will need to download and install a external client called 'play fire' in order to download and play it, and despite being labelled as the gold edition on their website, only appears to include fields of glory.

As mentioned previously, the static tracks bug can be solved by using Dgvoodoo in conjunction with the D3d8.dll file, and while the game will run without any changes to the compatibility settings, it is advisable to set the games exe file to compatibility with windows xp service pack 3, as this seems to resolves issues with slowdown during gameplay.

This doesn't work. It just stopped downloading for no reason and doesn't give me the option to resume the download.

The Playfire client is really creepy. It collects your data but the "learn more" page about how your data is used doesn't even exist. I also noticed that it logs in automatically even when you tell it not to.

"Could you please follow the instructions below as this will reset your client data, which will hopefully resolve the issue you are experiencing:

- Close the Playfire Client, make sure you go to settings and exit as the X will only minimise the client.
- Open the Run dialog using the shortcut keys: [Windows Key] + [R]
- Enter the text ‘%appdata%\Vulcan’ press [OK]
- Delete the folder ‘Secret Cache’ within the opened Window.

"When launching Playfire Client next you may find it will crash, but do not worry, simply run it a second time and it will ask you to log in again. If you are not asked to enter your details again, this means that the Playfire client was still running and that nothing has changed, in which case you will have to repeat the above steps.

Apart from Windows 7 or Windows XP, unfortunately no. There is an older version of the game that exists on at least one physical media copy that will run on 10 and 11, but this is not the version Steam offers.

The version of Panzer Elite Action is 1.43.85. You can find it on a DVD bundled with Dunes of War (which does NOT work) published by a company named Xplosiv.

Fix did not work for me with Windows 10 PC but oddly enough the game works on a Steam Deck under SteamOS.
