It's called the Greater Fool Theory. Basically it's the idea that you purchase a speculative, overvalued asset, that you know is overvalued, but are doing so on the assumption that you'll be able to find a "greater fool" to buy it off of you at an even more inflated price.

It's devs and their inner friend group circle swapping "rare" bananas between each other to entice idiots to buy, and it's working. People saying this isn't a massive scam are just the perfect type of people the devs can abuse and laugh at as they head to the bank. ALL the bananas are eventually not going to sell at all and the ones laughing at people for not getting in on "free money" will suddenly be very very quiet.

Kinda crazy to see how the devs are stocked up on bananas that are not dropped any longer.

not to mention owning multiple of the super rare banana that only exists 100 of.
