A Few Suggestions...
I really really like this game - it's exactly my kind of thing. Excellent concept, excellent execution. But I ran into a few issues whilst playing which frustrated me since the game would've been otherwise perfect and something I could really play for hours and hours on end.

  • Please ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ let us be able to queue actions. This is the heart and soul of games like Diner Dash which I can see being channeled here to some extent. But having to wait for the player character to slowly trudge to place A before being able to click on place B for fear of clicking early and hence cancelling movement to place A is VERY ANNOYING. Let us queue. And maybe add a right-click to cancel last action or something.
  • Power limit is ridiculous. I feel a game like this should be limited by the number of customers who come to your shop, in a day, as opposed to the machine running out of power. And it has SO LITTLE power as well. There is a very hard cap on how many customers I can serve just because the machine power starts at 10 (more with the upgrades). But it's not fun. It's not a challenge. I just look at the amount of power I have and see the amount of plants they're demanding and then see if I can afford to serve that customer. And it's very frustrating to turn customers away. So, as an alternative...
  • Remove power limit - use time instead. Doesn't it feel more realistic to have customers getting impatient over time? I think the power currency is a bit redundant and only serves as a hard limit without adding any complexity to the problem solving. Maybe the customers can have like a very clear timer over their heads and on their orders, and if you get them their plant sooner they give more money, but if your time runs out they give you the base amount, and if you make them wait REALLY long they get pissed off and leave.
  • Don't allow players to choose the outcome of the Punnett square. Maybe this should be added as a separate mode. But I found it incredibly easy to buy two random versions of any new plant, and then bread them twice to get a perfect breeding pair which could easily produce any variation of the plant that was ordered. Alternative suggestion: have a hardcore mode where it is always left to chance. It would be MUCH harder to create a short fluffy catcus in this case. You could have your short from the store and the fluffy from the store but you'd have to go through the machine a few times before hitting short and fluffy. Of course you would definitely need to remove the limiter on the breeding machine in this case. I would've found this problem much more interesting, because it really became too easy when I worked out the breeding trick.
  • MORE PLANTS. Just echoing the other players here, but yes. Increase game life by adding more plants! Have only a set amount of customers a day. Make the game go on for longer! More upgrades - maybe aesthetic too? There's nothing like tiny frequent amounts of meaningless positive reinforcement to keep a player even more hooked (see Diner Dash's silly "choose the colour of your shop front" mechanic at the end of every other leve. I was so into that.)

I think that's all from me for now. The game is very very good. I WANT to become addicted and binge on it for days, but currently I can't. Here's a list of what's awesome about this game:

  • Voice acting is super great. Surprisingly so. Maybe make text show up as they speak so you don't spoil yourself for what they're gonna say by reading ahead?
  • Characters are hilarious.
  • Art is gorgeous. For the characters and plants.
  • Plants are great and hilarious and their genes are interesting too. I particularly liked catcus and catkins being cats, and catkins can meow or purr. Excellent.
  • GEORGE MENDEL IS THE LANDLORD.
  • The plant competition. Judges wanting two heterozygous alleles. I can't remember the exact word used, I think it was "heterozygawesome" or something. All my yes.

Loads more I've forgotten. Anyone, I'm done now. I hope I've put this in the right place. Maybe this is meant to be a review. Oh well.

Thanks so much for your feedback! We are trying to make the game more usable and enjoyable and it's good to hear from people who play it. I've added your feedback into our backlog and while I don't think we would be able to address it all in our next round of fixes we will certainly be aware that they are issues that people have. The action queue-ing is an interesting suggestion, one we personally didn't consider before.

It's also awesome to hear that you figured out how to breed the best breeding pair in the machine using the Punnett square. While there is a gameplay downside to it as you mention (making it very easy), figuring it out demonstrates that you have learned a concept that we are trying to teach to people learning about Punnett squares and genetics for the first time. There are many players who don't catch on to that right away.

Ah, I suppose your target audience may be a bit younger than me. I'm a science teacher (physics specialism) in the UK, so I'm already quite familiar with Punnett squares. Thanks for responding though, I look forward to playing it again in the future when changes have been implemented! :)
