strongly needs a tutorial...
Look, I like these types of games. Start a shop, mix plants, find new things, sell, etc. But how is this even more confusing then plant tycoon? You really need something to explain what you are looking for when someone asks for a plant. I am so lost and it is barely the 2nd day.

I had a bit of trouble in the beginning too. I suggest looking at the videos that people are listing here in the forums. They are super helpful. I did not learn much of this stuff when I was in school, so it is confusing! I still am enjoying the game!
Thanks for the feedback, YukoValis! We do have Quick Helps (the ? in the top right of the shop and a separate one for the breeding machine), but if those aren't doing their job we will consider expanding the walkthrough tutorial to be more helpful.

I mean it took a little for me to figure out what was what. Especially understanding the top section being the dominant of a flower. All I would have needed was one of those pictures of the flower with arrows pointing to "hey this is dominant, this is what the customer was asking for, it being in the submissive or whatever wouldn't work" is all. The customer asked for a fluffy cactus, but since it was in the sub slot, it didn't work, and I just yelled at the screen going "what do you want from me?!?"

So no harm :)

If it helps, the little panel to the right of the punnett square also spells out what the phenotype of the plant is going to be. So if you select say, a prickly/fluffy combination, it will say "Prickly" there to let you know.

I have such a hard time figuring what two of each kind of plant to keep in my shop. I really do not understand the dominant recessive stuff enough to get things without wasting money. I feel pretty dumb. LOL

I tossed together a guide for the non-biology majors.

Opening up the order will tell you the specifics of the plant the customer is looking for.

An easy way to breed plants to order is to have two of the plants required each with dominant-recessive pairs in each gene slot.

I was going to play it, but after I reached the second day I didin't have the patience to sit there and understand what's it all about with dominants and stuff.

I thought it was a fun game, not a botanist video game.

I bought some silver sunshine plants from the catalogue and got plants with dominant golden rainbow instead... so my shop went out of business. Even if you suggest that the plant sold in the shop doesn't indicate what its dominant alleles are and somehow we're supposed to cross our fingers and hope for a good outcome, the icon next to it in the catalogue looks very much like the silver dominant icon as opposed to the gold recessive one. Also why is silver dominant and gold recessive? That's really deceptive

Seriously? The game is too complex without a tutorial. Can't figure out how to make prickly tall cactus and that homogyne..something plant and i'm tired of restarting the game. You need to explain at least something.
Uninstall. Sorry i don't see the point of playing this "game" It's 0 fun.

Yeah I was utterly lost on this game and the throwing around of genetics jargon only confused me more. I kinda got that I should just give the person whatever was in the picture in the end. Also it was a bit overwhelming that suddenly I have about a billion orders for catcuses when I don't have any and had to order more from the catalog which cost more than breeding, but you quickly run out of breeding and when does the day end?

Really should tell us what a short term goal is: "breed catcuses, serve 3 customers" or something then have the end of the day.

1. Pay attention to what Mendel says.
2. Pay attention to the instructions when you first go into the breeding machine, it explains how to use it
3. If you're confused by what a term means click the small icon next to it and it'll take you to a glossary.

I did most of this, but this game needs a more in depth tutorial.

Yeah, I agree I didnt quite understand everything until after my first round of the game. It made it kinda confusing and I wased a lot of breeding opportunities.

I know that this is a necro but for others that read this forum
  1. Dominate traits are traits that will always be the one you see if the plant has it while recesive traits will only be seen if the dominate trait isn't present EX.
Catcus #1 with the prickly/prickly and tall/tall plant will look prickly and tall
Catcus #2 has prickly/fluffy and tall/short will look prickly and tall
Catcus #3 has fluffy/fluffy and short/short will look fluffy and short
(this is based on tall and prickly traits being dominate while the fluffy and short traits are recessive)

  2. Just keep 2 heterozygous plants (plants with both a dominate trait and a recessive trait such as a catcus with the prickley/fluffy traits AND the tall/short traits) which you can then breed together into ANY combination of plants that the customer wants.

  3. Even if the dominate/recessive thing might be complicated for some people the game makes it easy since when you go to breed plants together you can select which combo of traits with be in the new plant based on what the 2 parent plants you are using at the time.
