X-Plane 10 Global - 64 Bit

Run two instances of X-plane in order to split screens?
Anyone who know how to run two instances of X plane using steam? is this possible? or I have to resign?

I run dual monitor, is that what you mean? Only requires one instance of XP to run.
no, I run 3 monitors but like to run two instances of XP to manage intruments separately.

I would like to know how to do this too. Multiple instances are a good way of leveraging lateral offsets to get a better wrap-around view with multiple monitors such as typical 1x3 setups. Without this you just get wider but wasteful plane of view accross all three.

did you get anywhere with this? I am trying to setup 1 instance per monitor as per the documentation but obviously steam won't let me run the game twice.
I have tried installing the demo and using that for slave instances but it didn't like the scenery. At this point it seem like my only option would be to buy another copy on another account.

Hi Nuclear Beartrap. I'm afraid not. I even posted onto the Aerosoft website who handled the bringing of X-Plane onto the Steam platform (see www.x-plane.com/store/desktop/purchasing-x-plane-10-steam/), however I did not get even an acknowledgement. Perhaps we are supposed to purchase additional copies for this slightly professional feature and so do not even bother humoring us with a response, perhaps it's in outright violation of the Ts&Cs/licence for the Steam product? Or perhaps it's an embarrassing oversight on their part that they are hoping will disappear?

I didn't pursue it for long as I tried a multi p.o.v. rendering as supported by DCS out the box (try it!) and my frame rate went through the floor. Computationally I suspect that multiple p.o.v.'s are a whole different kettle of fish. Add to that the additional object cpu and PCI bus load and I suspect a crippling bottleneck is bound to pop up somewhere unless you want to neuter your quality settings.

Try Aerosoft.de again in my stead. Keep us posted if you get anywhere.

I am beginning to believe that I would have been better off to buy the box set. I live in the middle of nowhere Alaska, so purchasing digital downloads seemed like a good idea. I think I am going to go back to waiting for the float plane to bring my Amazon to me.

You can buy the original from xplane as a download.

You can do that on Linux, starting two different X-Servers. Here's how you do it (for X-Plane 9, but should stillwork with 10): http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=44217

I don't think the Steam client will launch more than one copy of a game and the X-Plane executable most likely requires the Steam client to launch it - so I assume anyone with the Steam version of X-Plane is restricted to one instance?

The Steam client will likely not allow the use of two instances on two X-Servers. You would need the standard edition of X-Plane for that.
