I'll probably wait for a while. Paying 60 bucks just to get better lighting, reflections and fog doesn't sound that tempting to be honest. It takes more than that to win me over right away.
I am looking forward to it. Do not know whethr to buy now and get the upgrade or wait for steam.
What I am worried about is the planes I have. Will they transfer.
Steam refund going to be used I'm afraid, unless they can give the same assurance that Steam buyers get the same deal. I'll just go and buy it on the official site.
I'm with you on this. I was kind of hoping for a Vulkan renderer and a completely redone plugin interface (i.e. forbid plugins to use GL and AL functions directly, ...). Right now XP11 looks like XP10 with a new quickflight setup window and "improved" graphics.
I recommend you do not buy it AGAIN
Don't throw the toys out of the cot just yet. 6 months is a fair amount of time. Plus XP11 probably won't be a huge improvement and in any case, will probably need a year of patching before being a solid product.
have you seen the videos of Laminars announcement at Cosford Flight Sim Show?

Those videos give a bit more insight and after watching them, I'm convinced that we don't just see small improvements here. For example a new default FMC was coded over a long period of time with a lot of new functionality like SID and STAR support combined with an up-to-date navigational database. Compared with XP10, the new "fog" or "haze" rendering is a huge step forward. And there will be new aircraft available by default: The B737, MD-80 and S-76 helicopter. And also other default aircraft have received a major overhaul like the B747 or the C172. The B58 and King Air already got their updates with 10.50 btw. And there is way more. For example european style autogen, a new sound engine, new aircraft reflections, a new user interface etc.
Of course there will be bugs after release. But you can expect that XP11 will get better and better over time with more and more features added, just like it happened in the v10 run.
Regarding full price: Personally I have to say that X-Plane did provide me with thousands of hours of fun because besides the flying I really got hooked on scenery design with WED. I bought XP10 during a sale back then and literally just payed roughly 2 cents per hour I was occupied with it (most likely even less). In my opinion a total steal. And the best of it: Every user does benefit from this too. Because Scenery Gateway ;)
I'll definitely buy XP11.
Greetings Peter
