Screen Resolution Issues
HI, im hoping someone here can help , i only get 3 resolution options in the configue and they are all 1024 x 768, trouble is i have a 1900 x 1200 monitor and when i play in any of the settings the mouse and screen do not line up, when i move mouse to bottom of screen it selects something half way up. this means i cant play at all.

is there a way to set a different resolution for the game or fix the alignment issue?

really want to play this again, but cant, i even have to alt+tab to close the game because i cant click the quit button.

I have the same problem. Cant find the code for video modes in cfg
anyone knows where it is?

I have found out that selecting an option of screen above the last one in the options makes the screen strech instead of giving the black borders. Its abit better than nothing

Right-click the application’s shortcut ->Properties. On the Compatibility tab, select "Disable Display Scaling On High DPI Settings", and then click OK. For me it helped.
Its still not working... I tried every possible combination of settings...

If you don't care about playing in full screen, here is my solution. You can create a shortcut on your desktop, not a shortcut made through steam. You then link the shortcut to the UFO.exe in your UFO Aftermath folder which you should be able to find through steam's game properties -> local files -> browse local files.Once the shortcut is created you open that shortcut's properties by right clicking. In the box labeled 'Target:' you should add '--options fullscreen=false' withouth the quotations at the end after the quotations. It should look like something like this:

"C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\UFO Aftermath\UFO.exe" --options fullscreen=false

You then launch the game through the shortcut and it should open up in a decent sized window with correct mouse movements. This is the solution I found thus far.

That's actually a good solution bro, but you can make it even simpler. Skip the first bit with the shortcut construction etc. Just right click the game and go properties, and enter "--options fullscreen=false" into 'Set Launch Options.' Done

Yes, but how do i get it to a higher resolution from here?
Kaiver Aug 30, 2019 @ 10:31am
I think that there is no way. You can’t change the resolution. Only 1024x768 here http://joxi.ru/RmzK967tYQOQw2

Updated on 29 Jul 2023:

Ok guys, here's an update, it seem like some of us are having screen issues again. So I uninstalled the game completely and tried to get it to run full-screen on Windows 10, 4K screen. Also, this time, I got it to work WITHOUT running on "Compatibility mode" or "High DPI scaling override". Here's what i did and simplified. (IMPORTANT: Please remove any Steam launch options for this game before proceeding)

1) After installing the game, run it. Steam will prompt you to "Select Launch Option":
a) “Play UFO: Aftermath”
b) “Configure” <<< Choose this to start “UFO: Aftermath Launcher” and setup the screen resolution.

2) In “UFO: Aftermath Launcher”, you’ll have various screen resolutions to choose from. Here’s a list of what I have:
a.i) 1024x768 color depth 32 60Hz
a.ii) 1024x768 color depth 32 60Hz <<< Choose this
a.iii) 1024x768 color depth 32 60Hz

b.i) 1024x768 color depth 32 50Hz
b.ii) 1024x768 color depth 32 50Hz
b.iii) 1024x768 color depth 32 50Hz

c.i) 1024x768 color depth 32 48Hz
c.ii) 1024x768 color depth 32 48Hz
c.iii) 1024x768 color depth 32 48Hz

IMPORTANT: Notice how each ??Hz, there are 3 selections of the same name, but actually, they are different, here are the results:
a.i) 1024x768 color depth 32 60Hz (Full-screen, 4:3)
a.ii) 1024x768 color depth 32 60Hz (Full-screen, stretch to Wide-screen) <<< this is what you wanna achieve =D
a.iii) 1024x768 color depth 32 60Hz (Actual size, which is very small)

3) Once you selected the resolution from the list, Click “Test”.

4) An animation of “Spinning UFO Logo” will play. You can do any of the following to end the animation:
a) “Click on it” OR
b) “Press Esc” to end the animation.

5) You will end up on a black screen. (DO NOT PRESS “ESC” AT THIS STEP)
Instead, press “Alt-Tab” until you get to a “Dialog box” that ask you:
“Did you see the scene properly?” <<< Click “OK”

IMPORTANT: You need to click “OK” in order to save the setting. If you press "ESC", you need to redo from Step 3.

6) Now you need to Click “Run UFO Aftermath”. (DO NOT CLOSE “UFO: Aftermath Launcher” YET)
The game will run and if you choose the correct resolution, the game will run in Full Wide-screen.

IMPORTANT: You also need to Click “Run UFO Aftermath” in order to save the setting.

After running the game at least once, you no longer need to configure it again unless you wanna change to another resolution. Hope this updated guide helps! =D

Updated on 10 Apr 2021 (OUTDATED):

Hi all, I managed get the game to run full screen on Windows 10, 4K screen. You may try the following, please follow the instructions closely. (IMPORTANT: Please remove any Steam launch options for this game before proceeding)

A) Windows Settings:
1) After installing the game, go to the install folder (default: "Steam\steamapps\common\UFO Aftermath"), right-click on "UFO.exe" and click "Properties".

2) In the new dialog box that pop up, click on the "Compatibility" tab.
Then under "Settings", click "Change high DPI settings".

3) Another dialog box will pop up.
Under 'High DPI scaling override", check the "Override high DPI scaling behaviour. Scaling performed by:" box.
This will enable the drop down list below. Click on the list and select "Application".

4) Click "Ok" or "Apply" to close the dialog boxes.

5) After you are done with the above, you need to repeat the same steps for another file "Launcher.exe" in the same folder.

B) Game Launcher settings:
1) From the Steam Library, "Play" the game, Steam will prompt you to select:
"Play UFO:Aftermath" OR "Configure". Click on "Configure". (Alternatively, you can go to the install folder and run "Launcher.exe".)

2) In the Launcher that just open up, you'll see a few screen options. You need to go through the screen options one by one to see which one you prefer.
Click on the preferred option and click "Test" to start the screen preview (a animation of a spinning UFO logo). << IMPORTANT STEP

UPDATE: If for some reason, after clicking "Test", the launcher enlarge and fill the screen but there is no animation, click on "Test" again.

3) Press "Esc" to exit the animation.
A dialog box will pop up asking "Did you see the scene properly",
click "OK" if the scene display properly
OR
"Cancel" if it did not (or if it is not what you want).

Repeat from step 2 until you get the screen option you prefer.

IMPORTANT NOTE: From the "Did you see the scene properly" dialog box, you need to click "OK" to change the screen setting. If you click "Cancel" or close the dialog box, no changes to the screen setting will be made.

If you are struck in a black screen, please alt-tab out to the "Did you see the scene properly" dialog box.

4) Once the settings are done, click "OK" to close the Launcher.

UPDATE: If for some reason, a small animation is blocking the view of the "OK" button, try to click and hold on the animation to see if the button appear. If it's not the "OK" button, just move the mouse cursor to a empty spot and release. Try to click and hold till you find the "OK" button. You need to click on the "OK" button or else the setting won't save.

Note: For some reason, I have 3 different options to choose from compared to the screenshot provided by Kaiver in the above comment, Kaiver only have 2.

Options available to Kaiver are:
1) 1024 x 768 colour depth 32 60Hz
2) 1024 x 768 colour depth 32 75Hz

Options available to me are (For some reasons, all of them are the same description, but when I try them one by one, the results are in the blankets below):
1) 1024 x 768 colour depth 32 60Hz (Full screen, no stretching 4:3)
2) 1024 x 768 colour depth 32 60Hz (Full screen, stretched to widescreen 16:9)
3) 1024 x 768 colour depth 32 60Hz (Full screen but the game stays at 1024 x 768 surrounded by a black background)

Hope this help for those who have problem running the game on full screen or the game display is just too small for playing.

Milo Ran, great. Would you like to make a guide out of this in the guide section? So that the instruction will not lost.
