Legends of Aria Classic

Legends of Aria Classic

lol who was asking for this?
Legends of Aria at launch was pretty bad. How different is the game now that something like this is justified? I didn't even know regular Legends of Aria was still around or had anyone still playing?

[edit]
Looking at the official website, no patch notes since 2020, and no news posts since 2021. This game seems dead?

They tried to turn it into a crypto game, that obviously failed so it's going back to a Ultima Onlineish game. I guess?

So this relaunch will imply a subscription to play after 30 days free, how low can you get , jeeesus

I enjoyed it back then and if I have time will certainly rejoin. It had a ton of potential, just needed the right kind of development and I sure hope this is it. If they can pour in content and events win.

Back this game on KS when it was Shards Online when it was a spiritual successor to Neverwinter Nights only for them to turn it into a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ultima Online clone. Never seen such a dilutional dev as Supreme in my life, avoid like the plague

I just got the e-mail for the game and came here to check it out. Maybe I'll try it out at release if it's done right this time. It is surprising they're bringing it back, its just so out of the blue.

Also got a mail about this, after the failure of the last game (and the crypto stuff) why would anyone even give this :DSTpoop: a chance.

its either gonna be a new attempt at a cash-grab or they might just be really out of touch.

edit: also a subscription? yikes.

The game was incredibly sucessful at launch, then after a week or two they decided to make the game "more accessible" which destroyed the open PvP scene and sandbox community. The moment they announced the change they never recovered their loss, much like when Star Wars Galaxies made its new game experience.
It sounds good to me, I just don't know if they'll ever get the attention it once had.

Nothing is going to save this game from the long line of bad decisions they keep making. An open world sandbox game is meant to allow players to play however they want without others ruining it for them yet it always turns into a gank fest that nobody wants to play.

It needs to have lots of pve content as pve players are the bulk of this game type player base but also have opt in only pvp that is incentivised with rewards to attract more people.

For eg, make all zones except 1 or 2 pve but put rewards in those pvp zones that lure in players to fight for. It also needs the faction system so faction members can fight each other anywhere in the game world giving those who want open pvp everywhere the choice but leaving those pve players who don't out of it.

The steam launch version was a great start but instead of building out the opt in pvp systems they ruined the whole game by converting everything to pvp

That's the worst idea ever, why not play any other MMO if you want PvE? The game is relaunching because it was successful BEFORE it tried appealing to casuals and filled a niche that isn't normally filled; Your reasoning is exactly what saw the game die in the first place, open PvP is a core part of sandbox MMOs.

As for micro transactions I agree, if they go too hard or anything non-cosmetic only it won't work long term.

I mean they basically did just this before it even came to steam the first time around by making only the Barren lands in the west part of the continent being non-consensual PvP.

The original was delisted when the Dev development shifted in a way that steam does not allow. I had 1000's of hours in the original. 7 accounts. I am prepared to see what the game does. There are no real sandbox games out there IMO. That is what this game is. Players make the content. If the Devs supply the PK's the means they will ruin the game. If the dev's limit the PK's too much botting and boredom will ruin the game. This game has to walk a knife edge to be successful. The potential is there. I will try the launch. If it is bad I change this to a negative review and not spend another dime on it. On the other hand if it is done right. I will be back on here writing a glowing review praising Miphon and Supreme . The rest of you do what you want, but I will be playing at launch. i did some beta testing over the weekend. this is 2019 LOA. If you liked it try it. if you hated it then this is not for you. If you never tried it before and you like top down Isometric games why not try it.

The guys have shown how capable they are of launching a classic UO style game - it is just not worth it again

But they were empty zones with nothing to fight over and no rewards for fighting there so the pvpers complained until they made the whole map pvp which killed the game.
