No More Room in Hell 2 has a strong foundation - the atmosphere is excellent, the co-op potential is there, and the gritty horror tone is nailed perfectly. You can tell there's a lot of passion going into this.

Unfortunately, the core gameplay loop lacks the depth and tension that defines the best in survival/extraction genres. It feels overly basic and fast-paced, with most players rushing objectives and little incentive to explore. After a few matches, the rhythm becomes predictable, and each round feels like a slight variation of the last.

Character progression is also extremely fast and shallow. Hitting max level (50) sometimes takes only a few games, and it doesn’t feel earned. There is little sense of investment in your survivor beyond a handful of randomised skills, resulting in builds that feel linear and formulaic. For a game built around perma-death, the tension just isn’t there. Where are the stakes?

Good game with alot of potential and the devs are working to fix it/add content, if early access was released this way we would have alot less complaints than we do now

Forced to edit my review right now since the game no longer works with friends. I cannot play with my boyfriend consistently. We'll be loading into a game together, and then it'll be a 50/50 whether he gets disconnected from the server or not, which leads to me losing my level 50 characters just so we can queue again for a CHANCE to play together.

This is completely unacceptable, and should be the kind of bug that gets fixed within a few days of a new update. It has been a week, and I've heard nothing from the devs about it, not for lack of looking it up.

getting better and better

Well! I got it just with the reanimation update, and played a few matches with the reanimation+ update under my belt.

It is fun! And frustrating, but also fun! Make sure you got voice chat, that helps tremendous to coordinate and communicate with people.

Don't be worried about dying, it is part of the game > Same mentality with Project Zomboid and other Roguelikes, helps quite a bit.

Overall the game is still a bit unpolished aswell as unoptimized, BUT if you can look past these flaws with turning down the visuals, the game is nice n dandy to play, make sure you got at least a spare hour, some missions can last that long, depending on the people and their knowledge you play with.

Don't get frustrated with the maps and game if you fail, see it to learn, note down routes you can go from your spawn to find items, optimize your routes, map knowledge for item Spawns aswell as objectives is key to survive nicely (all objectives are present but only a selected few are noted down, knowing how to unlock other saferooms with equipment, without guidance rewards your player knowledge immensely)

Choose your fights and dont think you gotta fight them all, getting onto high places is a design choice by the developers in many locations, use it and plan which route you go from your small island of safety, the "stiffs" as they are mockingly called out by your character are gonna pool on you, they play unfair, so should you! Experiment with every item you find, they all have a use, if just situational.

I can recommend the game in the current state and if the pace, aswell as the engagement from the Devs keeps on going this direction, you will have fun on your own if you like objective oriented resource management, aswell as with a team (even more so).

I will update this review, when major changes came in, so far i enjoy the 15 hours i played, and might aswell pool more in, not as crazy as others but i enjoy well thought through game.

Update (0.4.1) is definitely a turning point where the positive reviews shifted to negative ones. Yes, you see the playstyles that everyone in the game is currently using, but that doesn't mean it's fun. If you want to block one path for players, then at least you should open a window for them. Things like leg-crippling and high ground dominance became popular because the current difficulty design is unreasonable. If before it was difficult, but at least there were ways to solve it, so the game was fun and challenging. Removing those elements leaves this game with only difficulty, unreasonable difficulty. Not to mention there were already many annoying designs and bugs that were hard to accept even when the game was fun. In the current unfun environment, they are even more frustrating. Think about it carefully, development team, I can't give a positive review until the game becomes fun again.

Won't buy it until they change the zombie spawn system, right now it's infinite zombie there's no point killing them. The melee combat felt janky like an old 2000's game. Everything else is good.

There's a ton of potential here and it gets better with each update

This game has a lot of potential, and it would be a huge shame if it died because of an unsupportive player base. Yes, this game does have a fair share of issues, namely the servers, ridiculous zombie spawns (by extension, late game balancing), difficulty based on the number of players in a lobby, lack of content compared to the original, and Unreal 5.

I have played every map, on every difficulty, and done every possible objective. It's an enjoyable game, not quite like the first one, but it has many hours of content.

What people do not seem to understand in these reviews is that this is still an early access game, and the price tag is because these developers need to get paid to keep making content. So if you're willing to watch the developers' progress with this game, I would absolutely buy it.

While this game is far from perfect there is a lot of potential.Given the fact this game was in development Hell and that it seems like they really do care I'd give this game a chance if you like zombie survival games.
