Infection system in this kind of game at this early buggy stage of the game is problematic. Its a punishing system and a death sentence if you dont have a cure aside of that, youre dealing with zombies running through walls/stairs straight up grabbing you from outside some small houses/structures/the cranes. So aside dealing with the bugged ass base mechanics, now they are further punishing players getting hit unfairly. On top of all the other problems with this game, like random disconnects from players/crashes, players losing their character on those same crashes.

If the base game was not bugged and not having so many problems with the core experience, and THEN you add this punishment system, and NOT add it while the melee system in this game is so bugged/hits not registering sometimes/zombies still hitting you from 5 feet away. Network issues to zombies once again clipping through textures/walls/stairs. SPRINTER ZOMBIES are the cherry on top.

As someone who has been playing this daily, I haven't gotten bitten in over 30 hours of play.

The most important thing is to keep your stamina in check. If you get grabbed with half or almost full stamina you will not get bit. The point of the system is to keep you aware of your surroundings. I don't find it punishing at all, especially since we have the ability to shove runners (f) to give you extra time to get your stamina back. (Also jumping onto cars and objects.)

It was substantially more punishing in No More Room Hell 1 as the melee combat on the source engine had a 50/50 chance of actually having them react to it. Even if you hit them first you would automatically just get bit anyways. With stamina management this never happens anymore. People forget how incredibly bad the source engine was at melee combat, especially in NMRIH1's case.

OMG FR. I have a little over 300 hours in nmrih1 and EVERY SINGLE TIME I would die is because I would hit or shove a zombie, he would make the damage noise, he would make the damage sound effect, but he would not take damage. BOOM, Infected. This is one of the biggest reasons I wanted nmrih2, so no more god awful jank. I adore nmrih1, but nmrih2 plays so unbelievably better in regards to combat. I don't really understand why people wanted the grapple qte to be removed, that would be god awful. The qte could be made less ez, but removing it would an unnecessary difficulty jump.

It's such a weird thing they focused on first, I supported the game when it first launched and had a lot of hate. Me, my girlfriend played it which I think made it a lot more fun and I felt like it obviously needed work but you can see the bare bones were good enough to keep you hooked. However, as you played more you start to question why such small and crucial systems weren't in place yet and taking forever. Why is the option to pick your load out on the road map seem like such a big deal when it should already be in the game and I mean they've had months by now. The zombies got worse as time went on, they some how got super buggy even though you have good ping, and it REALLY made me question why they decided to devote a whole update on the infection system knowing the zombies were this way. Instead of focusing on fun and new content to keep players happy they went with the "quality route" as stated by them on features that should already be here. I'm sure it'll turn out fine unless they abandon the game but it would be a couple of years by how slow they're pushing out things. I'm checking today and oh look a new map, apparently developed and being tested but don't worry we'll have it out in a couple of months. You might as well check back in 2030 for what you paid for, games like rust even back when it came out had everything you'd need, this is waiting for features that should be in before releasing. Instead of fixing servers or zombies, they patched the ammo dupe bug that made killing the zombies tolerable when they were super buggy, invisible, no head, teleportation and their priority was ammo dupe. Oh look we added fire fighter zombies, super awesome and then proceeds to do a whole chunk of the video on it. Its like they're getting paid minimum wage to develop the game so they're just dragging it on and kicking the bucket down the road. And the whole quality thing is bs, your game is obviously buggy, its ok. But you can't take months to "test" out your new map or features and it comes out buggy anyways, you're just shooting yourself and the players.

I never understood the "It should have been there already argument". It's early access. It will be there. Also are you serious? Are you seriously complaining that they went with the Quality over Quantity route? Would you have rather they pumped out update after update and just disregard the game breaking bugs? I also disagree entirely about zombies getting worse. The only bad thing about zombies now is that they "sometimes" hit you at a supposedly safe distance. That's the only bug i've encountered with them, and it hasn't been enough to make the difference.

What is so bad about trying to motivate the devs to finish a product we paid for? If you are so mad why didn't you just take the refund?

The game is indeed slowly getting better. But hey, wishing for it to be dead is totally a productive move /sarc

The sprinter situation is already WAY better than before. Infection is much less brutal than in the first game, since it depends on you just watching your stamina and not keep moving in the red. In the first game they scratch you, there is a 50% chance to get infected. And you are instantly green lit for friendly fire, on ALL servers and mutators. Unless you get the gene therapy/vax, it is gonna stay that way.

Can the game handle a higher infection rate? Sure, just need to spawn more pills, make it as common as bandages (like in first game). But good luck with this generation of "sigma" (coom guzzling) gamers who will just shoot you in the face and laugh about it.

Tonight I read on NmriH leddit that some of these geniuses think that by bombing this game with negativity and killing it, they might force TB to release Chivalry 3.

This is the level of the "people" we are dealing it. God helps us.

Ahh, that makes sense. I always wondered what their end game was haha

Yeah that's why I don't post discussions on reddit. They refuse to even consider the prospect that maybe the game is good, or isn't dead.

You act like we weren't always getting a proof of concept build. Many who complain about early access forget that the original 2021/2022 was also early access. Also what on gods green earth are you talking about, what you just said makes no sense whatsoever. What does "So a few people posting on reddit is your excuse for TB selling us a proof of concept build?" mean? I'm serious. I genuinely want to know.

That last patch really made game way to easy. Its not rare that you find best weapons basically at spawn. Harder difficulties should be hard. At least 4 and nightmare should provide some resistance. And possibility to chose difficulty is essential. Even if everybody dies at the start at least you will be on fun road. The way it is now is so watered, its not fun.
