When the game first launched, difficulty was defined in enemy healthpoints.
This however made red-eyes and runner an absolute chore to defeat. Especialy with melee.
So they changed it in the "Reinforcement" update to instead be defined by increased numbers of red-eyes and runners.
This however did not only increase tedium instead of lowering it, but made nightmare difficulty absolutely impossible to beat.
Now from what i have felt playing, they have disabled difficulty 5 and nightmare completely.
Weither that means for good or until they figure out a third attempt at difficulty i cannot say.
Due to the backlash they propably also tuned down the difficulty at dif 3 and 4.
At least thats what it feels like rn.
But to be honest im not to broken up about it. When i play on difficulty 4 it is not uncommon for me to see everybody else slowly dieing away, until i link up with the last 2 or 3 remaining responders at the Powerplant.
Im totaly fine with the game being a bit more on the easier side when that means i don´t have to do the Powerplantmission alone.
I find the game's descriptions accurate.
Hmm, I got Nightmare an hour ago.
