New signs of infection?

Not sure if this is an infection mechanic or another. I was really far behind from everyone else and thought there was a mechanic that alters the environment when you're straying really far behind from everyone and thinking this was one of them. Anyone seen these things as well?

yea, that's a sign of infection. pretty cool, there are also unique variations for every map

i notice on raven rock when infected u got swarm by bugs, weirdest ♥♥♥♥, im sure alot of players that got phobia of bugs are gonna piss themselves

On Broadway they can run towards you in the underground train part. Just to scare.
