Why do you guys have an obsession with "zombie children"?
Serious question.

They were fun to kill in the first game.

Here is my perspective, children are seen as pure and untounched in the gaming space, a kid dying is equivalent to seeing a dog die, so seeing these kids succumbing to an infection makes the threat even more so real. Having zombie kids is realistic, and in nmrih1, it was a tasteful non edgy way to implement them. Also they were fun to kill.
If games like codz or killing floor 2 had zombie kids then yeah that would be edgy and tasteless but not im nmrih1. Screw torn banner honestly for diluting such a classic experience and sullying greatness.

no one is spared in this apocalypse child are scary, unfair to the eye why this kids is infected ?

i'm not like i kill zombie kids = fun
sometimes i'm like man this kid deserve better but i gotta do it, it's him or me

Dead Space 2 had infected exploding babies and kids who ran at you. You played in a daycare/school. Those levels were the most disturbing and horrific. And I absolutely loved this levels as they were an unfiltered look that the marker doesn't discriminate, neither should the virus in nmrih1.

I played one of the Dead Spaces. I can't remember which one, but It was most likely Dead Space 2.

I thought that the camera angle was so close to the player model, that it impaired your vision, and since I had played every first person shooter under the sun, I didn't understand why the developers would design the game with impaired vision. At the time I was like, "you need to be a console player to put up with this kind of ♥♥♥♥". So I refunded the game.

The irony is that I started playing The Forever Winter, and the backpack that you carry is so large ( like the world's bulkiest multi-day hiking backpack ), that it *obscures vision on the left side, but I understand it as a design feature.

I got used to the 3rd person camera angle quite quickly, because I tried to solo a beginner map for 3 hours, died 20+ times, and extracted zero times. During the 3 hours, I never even figured out where the water was hidden on the map.

The game really captures "Hobo in Terminator Land."

* if you hit alt, it pulls back the camera.

Tone, gameplay variety (chopping off heads at "standard" height is different than a child running at you at half the height), also it was part of the first game so not having them feels like a regression.

The game needs more axes. It's weird watching videos where everyone uses a pipe - it doesn't seem realistic?

People who think that people wanting children zombies because it'll make the game possibly creepier rather than be creeps themselves are on something.

It was a special kind of zombie without needing to be special, Also it kept you and teams on your toes in the first game zombies where not some vampires that could tank three or four heavy axe swings to the head, Most times you died because a miss timed swing or a bad time to reload.

The children zombies where a way to counter vets because even seasoned vets could get snuck up on by a child or distracted by one or two of them long enough to make that mistake.

Nah its just people agreeing on mass. The people against it simply didn't play nmrih1.

Or maybe they just don't care.

I doubt anyone that played NMRiH1 doesn't care, because they know that it actually makes a difference in gameplay. Height variation makes the game more challenging. A lot more challenging actually.

Also it represents a tonal shift.

nmrih1 created and still has a cult following. its a feature complete free game that is still getting supported with fixes and additions and qol stuff. thats better than any indie game support i have ever seen.

not much of a different in gameplay
they are just zombie runners with longer hit range and easier to kill
