Is there a progression system

Yes, characters seem to get a perk choice every 10(?) levels and you lose the character with their perks if they die. The player's account also gains stuff as it levels up but I'm not sure what they are.

For leveling up your account, you will get new perks to choose from when leveling up your character.

Just know that you can hit a wall very quickly regarding progression. If you are not dying (there is permadeath) your progression will not be deleted. I got a max character after around 6 rounds.

yeah i understand by the time its like hunt showdown i really like it, i hope they will fix the bugs soon. its a good game

u were just lucky then it was impossible for me with desync and bugs
