Then of course another drop off as to be expected if nothing really new or major is in that patch, This game is a far cry from NMRIH having said that it's better then most zombie games I can think of right now which is kind of sad to say.
All games have a drop off. BG3 did, but that had hundreds of thousands of players, millions of copies sold. It came out with content, it functioned.
7 days to die released in Early Access a decade ago, it came out, it had content, players came, players went but the game did not lose 98% of it's starting release peak in under 2 weeks.
Early Access is not an excuse for "Lack of content" or "It has some issues" This game is a tech demo at best, this is what I'd imagine the demo would be if an online game could/would have one.
"It's better than most zombie games I can think of right now" Can you only think of Dead Matter and this one?! Without even playing other zombie games you would know that they are better than this. Project Zomboid, State of Decay, Left 4 Dead 2, Back4Blood, 7 days to die. Hell, even Unturned.
best we can hope for is if a different team decides to make a similar game.
yes early access is an excuse for lack of content, its an alpha.. your clearly didnt understand what alpha means, sorry...
just becuase some game has more content in EA doenst mean that the other game has to do the same...
dayz back in 2013 had nearly no content and nothing was working... player peak was super low during the early access phase and now, 10 years later, the game is increadible playercounts every day.
If NMRiH 2 is 'cooked' it's because people seem to have forgotten what Early Access means and are dragging the game to the gutter with negative reviews/comments that the devs have already stated that they're actively addressing, or they're still married to a janky-ass game from over a decade ago and need to let go. If NMRiH 2 was it's own IP everyone would be really impressed and excited about it's future.
Early access is what in softrware development usually called "release-candidate" - almost finished product, that needs some finishing touches before release.
Killing floor 2 was good example of early access, for instance.
I don't think its acceptable to release something for $30 in early access in the state this game is currently in. With that price tag you are setting yourself up for massive failure as expectations are going to be much much higher than a lower cost of entry.
