Industry Empire Beginners Guide
Creating an Empire is never easy. Creating and managing your Industry Empire isn’t simple as well. In this beginners guide I want to share some hints and tricks which should make the start of your life as tycoon a bit easier.

How do I start into the game?
Playing the tutorial should be your first step. Everything vital is explained there. If you have finished the tutorial and are about to start your life as tycoon than this guide will help you.

I have started a game – what are key factors to success?
The good news: success as an industry tycoon can be planed! The bad news: you won’t be the general manager of the most acknowledged industry company within 5 minutes! Industry Empire is about planning and executing the right moves at the right time. You have to evolve yourself and your industry constantly because the business is evolving as well. Supply and demand are rapidly changing and you won’t make the big money if you only have farms.

Where should I buy land?
This is a very difficult question which should be one of the most important decisions you need to make at the very beginning of your career as a tycoon. The obvious choice might not always be the best decision. Setting up your industry close to a town might be awesome in order to keep the transportation routes short, but you need to be careful as towns are expanding over time (if you supply them well). If you advance in the game you might haven’t enough space for your industry. Setting up your industry close to the mountains is the ideal thing if you are planning to be the most influential mining tycoon – but it might harm other industrial buildings which need a constant supply of water. On the other hand if you set up your industry to far away from the cities and market stations you will have longer transport routes which might cause a production stop because of a missing resource which wasn’t supplied in time. Also it takes more time until the cash drops on your bank account. As you see answering this question depends on many factors which might not be obvious at the very beginning.

It is important to buy the proper land:

I have bought a piece of land. What should I do next?
If you purchased some land than you might notice that it is expensive. So you should constantly buy smaller parts of land as your demand of space increases. So at the beginning don’t buy hectares of land if you don’t really need it. If you choose the spot for your industry than start building some residential houses and 1 or 2 power plants and water pumps. This should satisfy your initial need of workers, electricity and water. But be careful and don’t set up too many houses and employ to many workers at once – you will have to pay workers with a job and as well as idle workers which are not employed at the moment.

I have noticed a warning triangle over my buildings. What does this mean?
A warning triangle upon one of your buildings means that something is missing which is preventing the building from being 100% fully operational. Most of the time this sign signals that water, workers or energy is missing. If you click on the building the UI will display the missing elements in red. If it is water what is missing you might haven’t got enough pumps working and you should consider to build another one.

When warning signs appear on your buildings you need to react:

I have set up the basic buildings. What comes next?
If you have set up some houses, water pumps and electricity stations (which actually don’t require a connection to the street network) you are almost ready to produce your first goods. Before we get there – one very important building is missing: It is the logistics center! Without this crucial building you won’t be able to set up your empire at all. The logistics center is a storage for your company’s vehicles. From here every shipment will start and end. For instance if you have accepted an offer from one of the cities and you have set up an vehicle task – this is the point from where the trucks are starting in order to fulfill the task and when they have fulfilled it they will return here – in order to be available for new tasks. The logistic center will always require a connection to the local street network in order to fulfill its job properly (as most of the producing factories). At the very beginning you will only have access to farm buildings and chicken coops. These buildings won’t generate the big money – but they should be your first step towards being the most influential industry tycoon in the world.

The logistics center is always the starting point for your business operations:

My factories won’t produce anything. What went wrong?
If your initial factories won’t produce any goods you should check whether it has enough workers for production, enough water and electricity supply. If all this is fulfilled you can start the production by clicking on the desired good inside of the buildings UI. It should have a green overlay and the production will start immediately.

In this case workers are missing and needs to be employed:

My factories have started to produce goods. What should be the next step?
If you have stored some goods you should consider to sell it directly or wait a bit longer in order to fulfill larger contracts (only if you can afford it – since this depends on your financial situation). Your first step should be a closer look into the market window. This is spot where you can pick and sign your delivery contracts. Before you hit the green accept button on the right side you should make sure that you have enough goods – otherwise it might happen that your contractual partner might terminate your business relationship and demands a contractual penalty from you – which of course will cost you more or less cash - depending on the assignment you have chosen.

The market window. Where every contract is selected and signed:

Which contracts should I sign?
Every contract differs from another contract. Some will pay you only the market price but the terms here are often not as strict as in other contracts. Before accepting one you should always have a deeper look into the details like quantity, price per unit, the end of the offer and the penalty. If you think that the contract you have in mind is good for your business than you should accept and fulfill it. Other contracts are more valuable but the amount of goods is higher or the terms are stricter. You can always accept a short delivery contract which will always have a higher outcome of cash – but of course this is riskier than normal contracts.

I have accepted a contract. What should I do next?
Your next step involves the “My Orders” window. Open it and you will see the contracts you have accepted. Here you need to dispatch your vehicles in order to fulfill a contract. Therefore you need to select the proper building (for instance: if you have accepted an egg contract, chose the egg plantation building) and the right vehicle from your logistic center. If there won’t show up any vehicles – you might need to check in the logistics center whether you have purchased a proper vehicle. Every good needs a specific vehicle for transportation (for instance: eggs will need a truck with a cooling unit in order to be delivered on time and in the best possible condition). If you have done everything properly a truck should be dispatched which will pick up the goods from your production in order to deliver it to the target destination. If no truck was dispatched it might be a good idea to check if the logistics center and the production site are connected to the road network.

In the my orders tab you will find the accepted contracts which should be fulfilled http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=295006632

Dispatching your trucks is a key factor to built up your empire:

How do I connect a building to the road network?
This question becomes relevant when you start to ship your produced goods. You might see an error warning coming up which explains that the delivery is not possible because a building is not properly connected. In this case check your location and build a street if needed. To build a street you should select the road tool and then click on the production site which needs to be connected. A blue dot should appears above your facility. In order to connect it, simply click on an existing road and then the checkmark for verification. You should keep also an eye on the costs because setting up a road is expensive. If the road you plan to build is red, you won’t be able to complete the building process because it might be that another building is blocking the way. In this case you can set up roads manually by clicking on the map. This might also help creating a more sophisticated and individual road network.

Connecting production plants to the road network is crucial:

When do I get more buildings and more options?
In order to get more buildings and options you need to level up. By levelling up you automatically receive new building options and can start to build up a more sophisticated industry. By fulfilling contracts and satisfying demand you will gain more experience points and you will automatically level up.

I haven’t got any money left. What can I do?
First of all pause the game and try to reduce the daily costs (by firing idle workers or destroying unused buildings). You can always check the balance between income and outcome when you hover your current cash balance. If there is a total misbalance you might consider to start a new game (unlocks and ranks won’t be lost). If you only need money for a short time in order to survive a hard time you can always open the bank tab and request a loan. You can have up to six different loans at the same time – but don't forget: the more loans you accept the worse the conditions will be for the next one! What you also need to reconsider when requesting a loan is the taxes you will have to pay monthly. It can be always a good option to request a loan but it can lead your empire to a bankruptcy. You always need to check which might be the best option at the right time for your empire.

I hope this will help beginners to set up their own empire. I will create more guides with more details soon. Please share your thoughts and ideas in this thread.

The Guide is also available in the guide section:

At certain levels the player is rewarded with a free luxury building.
Each luxury building is unique and can be built only once.
Constructing a luxury building also grants certain bonuses.

Here are two bonuses revealed:
1. For each luxury building the player gets a 0.5% lower loan interest in the bank.

is it better to build one of each industry or several of the same, starting out?

Your guide is quite good. I'm having a few issues with this game, though. They're getting annoying. Quite often the vehicles required to perform an internal delivery--say you want to move manure into one of your farms, for instance--can't find their way around. We get stuck with the message "No associated garages" a lot of times. If the roads aren't direct and obvious, the trucks simply can't get where they're supposed to...

Sometimes you have to sell the damn truck and buy it again just so the stupid system can understand it's there... it's ridiculous.
