Can Remote play host use k+m and guest use controller?

Hello, I was using remote play yesterday and it seemed like the 2nd player (the remote player) was only able to use keyboard and mouse to play, and they could only control the first player, is it possible for them to use a controller & be second player?

What kind of controller is the 2nd player using? Also, are you both playing on Windows or MacOS?

Hey Mark, thanks for replying! He was using an xbox 360 controller, and we are both on windows.

So remote play can be kind of weird with Pit People. The key is to make sure is that whoever is the second player presses the F2 key on their keyboard first while in the lobby. If they do not press the F2 key first the game will think that they are also the first player. From there they can swap between keyboard and mouse or controller before they ready up. Please try this out and let us know if it works for you.

Thanks for the reply. After all said and done, I think the actual issue was that I wasn't able to enable the 2nd players controller within steam remote play via the normal interface displayed to me on pc by going into steam overlay after remote play has 'launched' or at least I didn't have the controller toggle next to the keyboard & mouse toggle.

This was actually circumnavigated by playing through steam deck, and remote playing through that (which is amazing btw, thank you haha :D!), which had the option to toggle controller for 2nd player.

So in the end, I'm not exactly sure what the issue was/is lol not exactly sure why i can't enable his controller from the steam remote play interface on pc but can on steam deck. Seems like steam remote is a little jank, which also coincides with my past experience with it -- but also could have been error on my side, not really sure. haha Either way, got a reliable way to remote play pit people now. Hello.

Just to confirm this problem is happening for other users, like me. For unknown reasons, the controler is not proposed with the Remote Play Together for Pit People (it is proposed for other games, we have tested), which make it unplayable by RPT on PC.
Can not say why. Maybe something deactivated on the PC version of the game which makes it unrecognized for controller by the RPT system of Steam ?

Hello, how did you manage to use remote gameplay in the first place? When I invite my friend, he can't even press F2 nor he is able to listen the game sounds.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with remote play. First, whoever is hosting the remote play session has to set their display settings to fullscreen. Not windowed mode. Not borderless windowed mode either. Next, let's try having your friend disable Steam input and see if that works. Here's how to disable it:

From your Steam library right click on Pit People, then select properties, navigate to the controller tab, then from the drop down menu select 'Disabled Steam Input"

Once you do that, launch the game and see if the issue is fixed.

Please let use know if your able to remote play once you disable it, or if you need further troubleshooting.
