Insane Unfair Challenge Thoughts?
So I've beaten the game a few times played some normal unfair challenge, done a bunch of quests, fought in the pit, played in insane, yada yada. So it seemed reasonable the next step was the insane unfair challenge, but sadly it didn't seem like much of a challenge. Don't get me wrong, I haven't beaten it yet, but so far it just seems like the unfair gamble.

It gets really down to the line and those little bits of rng suddenly go from inconvenient, and mild disadvantage to literally game changing. You somehow manage to get past the first two rounds, maybe with one loss, your units could use more hp, but could be much much worse. Unfortunately the third waves line-up just so happens to have some good counters to yours, and with the odds already stacked up against you, there is near no chance for success. That sums up my experience so far.

Unlike the rest of the game, it really makes me feel like the decisions I'm making have no real effect of the course of the battle. When I lose normally, I have an "Oh man, I did this poorly. Had I done xyz differently I would've won," moment. With this it really just feels like "welp rng said no thanks, nothing much I can do there."

Anyone have similar thoughts or am I blowing it out of proportion? What are your tips and tricks if you've done it?

I managed to complete it with an ai player team as backup. If you've built a fairly balanced and varied team there really isn't anything that's going to counter you.
No the real issue with the insane unfair challenge is its a war of attrition. You need to keep your units alive long enough for that next big heal and kite like mad when you need to.

with 2x big trolls it's pretty easy, just kite and spawn those adds ar much as possible.
First I thought I would be obilerated round one, but tbh it isn't that much harder than regular unfair challenge.
I took a fairly balanced team (cyclops+4 humans) to the Pit and ended in final round first try. My team could handle most teams, until my frontline cyclops died in a sustained battle against their cyclopses and cupcake.
I bested the Pit with my 2nd try when I replaced a human with a low lvl Spidaur which fortunately leveled up very regularly. I would've died again if my Spidaur didn't level up when she killed one of the final problematic targets (tank human). So my remaining 2 humans and Spidaur could hunt down the remaining squishy targets.

My biggest issue with the Pit weren't the enemies themselves, but the RNG of each round (2 cyclopses or kobolds were really annoying) and sustaining my team without a cupcake.

As noted above, it's a war of attrition. The unfair challenge is very different from PvP (where you usually want to maximise damage output). It's much more like a survival puzzle than anything else - figuring out how your team can fight off different hordes of several possible combinations, and these combos use units that are hardly ever seen in PvP (2-3 mascots buffing each other, lots of artillery etc.).

For that reason, if you want to guarantee beating the challenge, bring a well-rounded team and AT LEAST one cupcake. While troll moms are great, you can end up in a bit of a bind if a team appears with lots of AOE/fire (and rainbow horses are pretty common in the Unfair challenge, and on the insane setting they can appear as elites with much improved accuracy!).

My standard set-up now (2 tank humans with shields, 2 spidaurs, 2 cupcakes) hasn't lost a fight in the insane unfair challenge in ages, and sometimes I even leave it on auto-battler while I AFK. I really recommend at least one cupcake because there's a terrible round 3 team that will literally devour you if you don't enter that fight with decent levels of health (I'm thinking of the 4 vamps + 4 zombie team here).

Interesting comments, gonna try and give it a few more tries later today with this input. Thanks for the tips!

I have a troll mom, cyclops, and cupcake going in, with leaving auto-battler on, idk how this will work...
Test 1: Went well until Round 3 with a team with four pixies
Test 2: Actually won

Verdict: Turn on auto-battler and let the game run itself and it can also be a fast way to grind xp

Managed to beat it. The first round was horrible with 3 octopi dudes which kept converting my cyclops. The last two waves didnt have any mortars, and only a handful of dudes. Still felt like luck, but hey I got it. Whatevs.

2 troll moms is a very consistent team for it. I've never felt like I was screwed by RNG.

I like to mention that the pit with auto-battler is NOT a good way to grind XP, I repeat it is NOT a good way to grind

If you want xp just do side quests and story missions. You get more than enough

The Imajun Dat quest is the best place for farming xp and kills; the enemies there respawn infinitely and have very low stats.
