this game really had alot of potential
If you made this game around letting you attack who want, while also haveing skill trees for each monster and char it really would be a epic game. but the gameplay just makes it average at best i hope there a pit people 2 and you do this

out of all the things this game might need, an individual skill tree for each unit you capture is absolutely not one of them. that would actually kinda ruins the point of the game in some ways. its a fast past simple strategy game. throwing in a skill tree for each unit you catch in the game completely throws off the simplicity and balance of the game. this game can already go extremely in-depth without the added skill tree. adding skills also would make each unit less special. it also just makes it so people who grind this game always win pvp. unless it wouldn't effect pvp, in which case why bother in the first place. a skill tree wouldn't add anything this game needs, and would take away things this game does well.

More meaningful equipment options for monster units and double the amount of unique playable critters would have added some much needed depth without sacrificing simplicity.
Also less recycled environments and assets couldn't hurt in general

i think what this game needed is more things to keep it going long term, like a actual pvp ranking system, and better rewords to go along with it. and more reasons, and more things to trade with, as those are the only 2 this game has that really keep it like this alive. its good most everywhere else for the most part, just doesn't have a lot to keep players around
Pit People 2 sounds good.

PP1 just doesn't seem to attract a crowd.

Perhaps, they need a $5 price tag?

I don't mind the characters attacking who they want, since you can still influence it a lot with positioning; I would have liked to see out-flanking bonus damage, backstabbing with lighter weapons, ZOC, laying ground traps, etc.. that sort of thing.

I don't know about any of that, but booby traps would definitely make the net user way more desirable. Spidaurs over human nets any day.

Wait, this game doesn't have progression? You never get "stronger" you just invest your weight points into different builds for different scenarios?

I thought eventually I'd be getting gear that did more damage and more protection, or that the characters might just passively gain attributes and abilities as they leveled up?

there are items you can get with different attributes, but if you want items that are just progressively better as you keep playing like they do in other games, like zelda botw, castle crashers, and minecraft. then that would kinda ruin the balance of the game. in pit people you should be able to make any unit, or item work. so adding items that just have objectively better stats all around, kinda spits in the face of that.

Everything is a side grade. There's no upgrades. You can level up but the regained health is more important than the negligible Stat gains you get.
A fully leveled L.99 character has only doubled the stats of a L.1.
This game was fun for a little while until you realize just how shallow the mechanics are.

i dont understand why simple needs to = shallow, in fact, the leveling machanics is really a minor part of the game. unit level isnt even a factor in pvp. it is all based on team comps. which can get extremely deep, while staying simple

The game is shallow for a lack of variety not it's simple mechanics. The leveling system is fine as a design choice.
Double the number of unique playable units, give monster units either more meaningful equipment options or have monster variants so that my pixie, hair troll, etc is different from yours in a functional way. We only have one option for a healer. Why do humans have the most build variety?

This is an incredibly valid argument for shallowness. Lack of variety, and that is what alot of people who are into turned based grid games expect when they come in to Pit People.

Thank you. I feel like the potential for this game to be truly great is there just not fully realized in its current state.
