Is it just me or are the characters too weak?
I don't know if Im going after enemies out of my level but I've sort of abandoned this game because every time it seems that enemy units destroy my own with a few hits while I take so much time to even get half their HP down.

Any help? Oh yeah btw I've just barely gotten the cupcake guy, just so you know where I was at the game

Try attacking (and killing) only one or 2 enemies at a time instead of spreading your damage too much.

I agree with what the guys said there. Specially with the basic story team, it is easier to focus 1 or 2 enemies at a time, you'll kill them much faster and reduce the enemy total dmg all the while. Also, if you have to spread your dmg, try to effectively use the advantages of your guys, I mean maces on helmets, light sword on light opponents, electric against pixies, etc.
And last tip, if you haven't already, recruit more units as soon as possible to make a full team and try new comps with diffferent units.

Compared to other strategy games, this can be simpler, but strategy is still important. If your guys are dying too fast, you might be missing some things the game has already (or hasn't) taught you. If your person wearing a helmet gets hit by a mace, they take extra damage. If the enemy has a helmet, your sword does less damage.

If your enemies are melee, position your guys so that the enemy is squeezing through a choke and you can hit 1 guy with 3 of yours. Position your guys so that they can only hit the target you want (don't leave it up to chance). Killing 1 enemy at a time is a lot more efficient than spreading your damage around (as said by others).

If you're up against archers, put whoever has the biggest shield closest to them so they take all the shots. Those archers won't do much damage anymore.

And if you have Gluten, try to pull back your low health guys so they get a break and some healing while your other guys take some damage. They don't have to move completely out of the fight, but you can put them between 2 other units (so they can't be selectively attacked) or in a corner where only 1 enemy can get next to them.
