is there a diffrence in playing singel and MP mode ?

`so i started my game in MP because i planned to have another player with me, so i have not played single player, i was wondering is single and MP different in terms of popularity and crowed control ? does it work the same , i have around 80-90% on popularity in MP and the amount of people for one person is getting absurd hehe and i get it its MP, but does the same happen in single player ? at one point it gets to be to much for one person to handle " at least in terms of getting as close to 100% as possible, is there a difference in the modes ?
