Instead on focusing on important things, they nerfed all mean of getting free money, so that playing and maintaining gear was almost even. That forced you to either pay or play every mission once so that you can get a little bit. So the whole game became a grind. After a while the increase of cheaters took the fun out of it.
You know the repair system is gone for a year already ?
The main problem of this game right now is the slowness of the Devs.
Fixing bugs takes them ages, meanwhile new bugs appear every new update.
PvE rework is already in process over a whole one year and they still haven't returned all the old missions that were in the game before.
Battle Pass is same every season - endless grind and you either need to spend 24/7 ingame to get anything, or pay to progress.
Pay2win is fortunately less prevalent thanks to the PvE season store, but the p2w aspect still exist.
And of course cheaters are still a thing, like if the anticheat doesn't exist..
But yea the repair mechanic back then made many casual players leave. Only playing PvP and only playing one mode basically gave you always negative balance. So you had to "farm" money to just play normally.
With old games like Warface I always say, rather make a new game, name it simular and change many things. Most people won´t come back to this game. I doubt that it has a steady increase of new players as well.
They always make 1 step forward and 2 steps back with every single update.
Only few of us remember how it was supposed to be based on teamwork, with even coop interactions like helping a teammate climbing on a wall.
Then Crytek stopped caring, and then sold the IP. I miss the old one
We appreciate the time and effort you’ve put into our game, and we’re grateful for that! We’re always open to feedback and suggestions from our dedicated players. We’d love to hear what has been making Warface: Clutch an engaging experience for you! :)
Hello,
There’s a tons of feedback from players in the Discord channel over the years, but i will write it here aswell.
I cannot speak for him, but I will speak for myself as a Warface veteran player since 2014.
I will sort the problems into categories:
PvE
PvP
General
PvE:
Q: What has been making Warface: Clutch an engaging experience for you?
A:The Special Operations mode was always something unique within this game, thanks to the dynamic gameplay, difficulty and teamplay.
But since September 2023: The PvE mode is going downhill.
90% of the Original Spec-ops missions were removed and only 70% of them were returned by the devs, prior to the 2025.
Players are begging the entire 2 years for these old missions, because they were basically foundation of this game and by removing them Warface lost part of its identity.
But developers are refusing to return old missions into the reworked system of PvE
Namely: Cold Peak (Marathon), (all difficulties) Mars (all difficulties), Rift: Infiltration, Rift: Revelation. (all difficulties).
There were a lot of effort put into these missions by the old Blackwood Games development team, while the new developers constantly refuse to return them back.
Then there is the PvE Coop mode that wasn’t updated since 2015.
There is an entire missing region of several Coop maps namely: Balkans
Balkans were also the foundation of Warface as they were the original first maps introduced in this game.
TLDR:
Lack of old Missions on all difficulties (lack of challenge)
Lack of frequent bugfixes (there’s often like 1 bugfix per 3 months - per season).
Unbalanced Time/score requirements on certain missions. i.e. longer missions are less rewarded than shorter missions.
Lack of frequent PvE content updates - 1 new mission per year. (old missions still not returned.)
PvP:
Q: What has been making Warface: Clutch an engaging experience for you?
A: Similar to the PvE, in PvP there were also a lot of very good and popular maps and gamemodes, but Developers again refuse to bring them back:
For example namely: Destruction, Domination and their maps.
Second Issue with PvP is problem with cheaters.
There are lots of cheaters in this game and bans are ineffective, since they always make a new account and start over again.
There has to be implemented more advanced Anti cheat, or Devs should do HWID bans.
Third Issue with PvP is the Ranked Matchmaking
Due to low playerbase, the devs decided to put all leagues together in the matchmaking, which resulted into frequent imbalance between low league players and top league players.
Example: Bronze players are playing against Masters/Grandmasters.
This should never happen.
Fourth issue: lack of frequent weapon balance. Everytime a new weapon arrives, its unbalanced, and serves as the cashgrab for addicts, which results in more players leaving the game.
TLDR:
Lack of Old popular PvP modes (Domination, destruction)
Lack of old maps (Wharf, Lighthouse, Convoy, Armageddon, SubZero, Breach, Bazaar, Mojave).
Lack of proper Anti-cheat - effective HWID bans.
Lack of frequent weapon balance.
Unbalanced matchmaking in ranked games.
General:
In general, the other issues are with ingame interface and Queue system.
There is no visible global chat window during created PvE rooms (you cannot invite someone from chat.)
There is no public PvE rooms for easy player searching.
Players cannot create private rooms for PvE maps on any difficulty if its not in current weekly rotation.
Players are unable to invite other players into the PvE from global chat.
There is no option to queue multiple maps at once to shorten the waiting time.
Battle Pass is repetitive, boring and too much of a grind without spending real money.
Issues outside the game:
Lack of proper advertising. Nobody knows this game even exists.
Not enough information about updates, lack of frequent updates on social media, updates are not unified and are often spread on different sites.
Lack of PTS server for Clutch, We are always 14 days behind RU with every update.
Lack of Development Roadmap. (players don’t know what they should expect from this game on a long run).
And thats probably it.
I only really loved it for the PvE, and the missions just begun to get confusing and complicated, while the PvP was purely P2W. Warface sadly is one of the many games that prove that Free 2 Play's just shouldn't exist for Online games...
Now it's just another F2P game that entered the battlepass rabbit hole, sucking addicted children dry of their mothers money.
