[HOTFIX] Unable to start Warface

[Valentine]

After the Oct 11th update some steam users are unable to start Warface via Steam.

Current Hot Fixes:
(These hotfixes are in a specific order, if one doesn't work move on to the next.)

Cannot verify digital signayure

For all players getting Windows cannot verify the digital signature [...] error when launching the game today after getting a Windows update http://i67.tinypic.com/24vnn7d.png

Temporary solution: Disable Secure boot

And wait patiently until they fix the problem.

Deleting Game Folder

%Homepath%\Saved Games\My Games\Warface
directory, delete:
HeadsCache\
ModelsCache\
Profiles\
QueryCache\
Shaders\
game.cfg
and start the game.

Turn Off User Access Control

1. Type UAC in the search field on your taskbar. (If the search field isn't visible, right-click the Start button and choose Search.)
   
2. Click Change User Account Control settings in the search results.
   
3. Then do one of the following:
   
4. To turn UAC off, drag the slider down to Never notify and click OK.
   
5. To turn UAC on, drag the slider up to the desired level of security and click OK.
   
6. You may be prompted to confirm your selection or enter an administrator password.
   
7. Reboot your computer for the change to take effect.

Valentine's Hotfix (Video in progress)

Ensure you are a fresh restart before doing this.

1. Open your steam Library
   
2. Right click Warface and click Properties
   
3. Click on the Local Files Tab
   
4. Open Browse Local Files...
   
5. Replace the corresponding extension files with the ones Provided[drive.google.com].
   
   WarfaceMycomSteamLoader.exe found in

   X:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Warface

   MyComGames.exe Found in

   X:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Warface\MyComGames

6. Start Warface normally

Re-install Warface

Ensure you are a fresh restart before doing this.

1. Open your steam Library
   
2. Right click Warface and click Uninstall
   
3. Re-install Warface normally via Steam.

5. Go one directory above the one you are in (this should be your library folder with all your games)

7. Uncheck the Read Only checkbox and hit OK
   
8. Choose Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files and hit OK

Hopefully, this works for some of you, and you don't have to download the entire game again.

Try deleting the contents of the folders in C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\My Games\Warface. And then changing your monitor resolution to 1280x720.
I guess in my case it has something to do with having a weird resolution (1842x1036) in which case it doesn't work.

Hi Valentine, thanks for the tips. I was really hoping this would fix my issue, but it didn't. I already had UAC turned off. I turned off my firewall, disabled my AV, ensured drivers were updated, replaced the WarfaceMyCom file with the one you provided, and have reinstalled both Steam and Warface several times. I'm not sure what else to do. Any other ideas you may have are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

patchday ... and same ♥♥♥♥ as of 2 weeks ago ... neanwhile it was running but today crashed again ... no intention to reinstall it 10 times again to somehow get it running again ...

None of the solutions helped me.

My problem is ...
I click on "Play" from the launcher and this appears:

Game start error
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
File name: D:/STEAM/steamapps/common/warface/warface/Bin32Release/game.exe


If anyone knows any solution to my problem, please let me know.

Hey guys, I don't know if this will help anyone else-- but my issue ended up being a Windows 10 update that had apparently corrupted. I rolled back to the previous update and the redownloaded and reinstalled -- Warface is back to normal now. Go into the settings of Windows and see if you had any updates installed around the date that Warface stopped working.

Tried the fixes ,reinstalled,repaced exe ,turned off UAC, not working for me.The only thing i can add is that before i had this problem (i press play in my.com, says STARTING GAME for 3-4 seconds then black screen for 3-4 seconds then i gets me out of the game) i had the "application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware" problem which i fixed by manyally reinstalling Graphics driver (NOT by geforce experience). Any help or suggestion?

EDIT** I reinstalled windows on my pc as a final step, a new clean install,and now i am back at start again "Application Game.exe has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware".....

That made the game start! thanks,it worked,at least i can login now in game, but now i am back to the "application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware" problem which cause game to play like 10 fps
