Is it normal for standard missiles to one-shot the player?

So, first off, I have the game on GoG, not here. Second, I've been playing for a day or so, and doing relatively well, I think, as long as I manage to ECM enemy missiles. Problem: WHENEVER I get hit by a missile, I die. Period. End of story. Even at full health. Even against a lower-tier ship. Not by "photon missiles" or any of the high end ones. Just the Standard missiles. They one-shot me. Thing is, they do NOT one-shot my enemies. Is this normal? Is this bugged?
