HELP - MY GAME WON'T START (sad face)
Hi,

I really need some help. I have a Windows 8 computer with 2.8GHz Intel porcessor and 2Gb of RAM. I have onl installed steam and Fleet Commander on te computer an use it for nothing else. I have read throuht the othe forums but can't seem to fix the problem. I adjusted my screen res to 1020x728 as suggestd and downloaded the graphics smoother from another post. after which it went from saying "ERROR - graphics unable to initiate" to just shutting down and not working a all.

I ove the game and am nrmaly a mac user. I only bought this computer to play a $10 game from 17years ago. Very sad face

I am having the same problem with fleet command. It was working fine for about two weeks when mcafee quarantined a file from the game during gameplay. I unquarantined it and I started getting the fault ERROR - graphics unable to initiate. I uninstalled both the game and Steam and reinstalled them but I still get the same fault. I'm running windows 10. The GPU is an Intel HD Graphics 620. Its a laptop. The file it quarantined was Real Protect-SS!D347E9E4F5BA

Solution!!!!

I was able to get it running by right-clicking the FleetCommand.exe file (in the Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Fleet Command folder) and selecting Properties in the pop-up menu, then going to the Compatibility tab. I then selected the the "Reduced Color Mode" option under "Settings" then clicked "Apply". This got it woking again!!!

Old post, but for anyone having trouble with game as I did with the unable to initialize post, I finally got this working using dgVoodoo2_55_2 using the direct3d dll's, with properties compatibility to windows xp sp3 and run as administrator only (and not even sure those last are necessary). I run windows 10 with 2 gtx 1080 cards, 4 monitors with my primary monitor an Acer Predator at 3440 x 1440 resolution, got the game running with full screen at 1600x1200 resolution using those dll's.
