Fleet Command

Fleet Command

What Happened to Jane's Combat Sims?
What happened to games like Fleet Command, 688(I), Longbow Gold, and ATF? Does anyone know what happened to Jane's Combat Sims, the company that developed and distributed all of our sims? I grew up playing simulators like this. It helped me develop my reading skills. Is DLC really the only one left?

They still make the best reference books but not games any more. 688i h/k still gets some play, and Dangerous Waters with mods, even Sub Command, but both are not even from Janes. Shame cuz Janes got me into siming back then, which I still do but with others DCS, Prepar3d, iL2, Steel Beast Pro PE.
EA bought Jane's Informtation group in 1995. Jane's Combat Simulations released games from 1995 to late 2000. Then EA killed the license. Seems Familiar?

Yeah, far too familiar.

Any of you guys know how to change or add things?

I made a thread asking, but no replies yet, so asking here as well.

I'd like to add some of the features from Dangerous Waters to Fleet Command.

I don't know about Dangerous Waters, but Dosbox lets me play Longbow

With Dosbox, you just type the programs you wish to run
Spicy_Noodles Jan 23, 2018 @ 11:23am
This is what I type in:

mount C C:\Janes\LBGOLD
(LBGold installment location)
mount F: F:\ -t cdrom
(CD or iso location)
mount G: G:\ -t cdrom
mount H: H:\ -t cdrom

Any ideas about the Fleet Command stuff?

The good news is that Sonalyst might be up some new work with "Simulation Engine II" which would bring us a new Dangerous Waters...

Not really. SimEngine II will be a commercial product for military use only currently. As far as i know, no gaming product will be released with the engine (I have access to the latest beta build at work).
