question about Gilgamesh island challenge difficulty...
So I read from the internet that on normal difficulty the fights are tuned for level 70 characters but being lowered to your characters level if you changed the difficulty to dynamic? does that mean the fights can get easier on dynamic difficulty if your characters are not at level 70?

The answer is NO.

Dynamic difficulty only scales enemies up to your level to prevent you from being over leveled. It never lowers enemies to your level to help prevent you from being underleveled.

This is in contrast to normal difficulty which you can still be underleveled for but can also be overleveled for.

In short, normal difficult is easier to equal, but never harder than Dynamic.
Is there any official confirmation of that? Especially regarding this set of challenge?
Yeah https://x.com/finalfantasyvii/status/1729160909342589046

It points out Dynamic Difficult is intended to make enemies grow stronger as you do and in other events they said that dynamic difficulty was to solve the over leveling problem and keep combat interesting while exploring compared to normal.

However, the easiest way to discuss it is to just prove it, per below demonstration.

I just loaded a save back in Costa Del Sol where my characters are level 27.

Go into the game and open the map. Go over to the Intel page that shows the levels for various Intel.

On normal prior regions go down in level to like level 19 and so on in while some in Corel Region go up to level 30.

Now swap to Dynamic Difficulty and some still go up to level 30 on my level 27 party but no mission ever goes below level 24 even in the Grasslands starting region. All the ones below my level are, at most, 3 levels lower, while all the ones equal and above my level are still equal/higher.

In short, Dynamic Difficulty never ever scales down to help you and only scales up to increase difficulty.

True, game adjust difficulty for your current level. I recomend to end the story and then you can upgrade your level and materia for Gilgamesh.

Can't we beat them before finishing the story?

you can, but the gilgamesh fight (and some of the fights you have to do before that) are very annoying and difficult on a first playthrough. huge difficulty spike compared to everything that comes before that

Ofc you can, but it can be hard and time consuming. It's like challenge fights where you have to know what to do and how. You can't just move in and beat em in blind.

You and the other poster didn't answer the thread question though, does playing those challenges on dynamic difficulty would be easier than on normal if my characters level aren't 70 / max?

I answered by saying "True". It is easier. On dynamic by the end of the story you are probably around 45-50 lvl and game will adapt for it. On normal it will be around 65+ lvl fights.
Your worried about Gilgamesh when you need to worry about fighting dual summons those can be brutal.

this doesnt even mention the boss gauntlet that gets unlocked where you have to do all duel summon fights in a row with odin at the end

I beat them before finishing the story on PS5. I wasn't 70. Took me a couple tries on the Phoenix Kujata fight
I don't know about hard mode but easy normal or dynamic there is no need to be Lv 70, and you can change the difficulty except on hard mode so just try it if you want.
