Is this game really that bad?
I just bought it, and by the look of the discussion board everyone is regretting it. Is the game really that bad, and whats the replay value on this game.

Nah I like it. I enjoy doing check lists and map clearing. The difficulty spikes are annoying. You will be chilling and relaxing one minute, then the next you will fight some random trash mob that is harder than a boss. Some of the maps, two in particular, are very annoying to traverse. The game isn't bad though. Most will come on here to complain, not sing it's praises anyways.

ask yourself this. do you like ubisoft open world checklists and minigames/busywork which have player power behind them? if the answer is yes, then you will enjoy this game. if you dont and arent wearing ff7 nostalgia goggles, you'll be more frustrated/annoyed by this game than actually enjoy it.

Love hate relationship. If it was just combat and story it would be a 10 for me. Instead it's full of side content and chorelists.
The game isn't bad but its nothing amazing either. You have to decide yourself if its for you

The game is bad in my opnion. The only good thing are the characters, and a little bit the combat, but there are just too many unfun enemies, that it gets ruined.

The story is pretty much non-existent and barely moves forward.

The open world is complete garbage.

There's tons of padding and your time is constantly being wasted for no reason. It would be a long game, even without that. Load times are also terrible, sometimes for no reason at all (e.g. Combat Simulator).

Part of the time wasting, there's a bazillion of minigames or unique quest mechanics, that are just not good.

You should not use steam forums as a way to make a decision on what to buy or not. For me personally, the game is amazing and well worth its money.

Just a vocal minority. The vast majority like the game.

As for whether or not you'll like it? YMMV. Its structure is pretty typical JRPG -go to a new area/town, do a little quest there, side quests too if you feel like it, usually the resolution of the local quest will have some tie in to the grander quest. Move on to next area. Rinse and repeat.

If you played Remake, you'll pretty much have the gist of what to expect from the combat, there are some new additions to the party and combat itself, but if you liked Remake's, you'll probably like Rebirth's combat.

The big departure from Remake is in how the exploration is much more open and you can much more freely travel back and forth during the game and that there is a lot more game here than Remake. Where I would say a pretty complete playthrough of Remake could be around 45-ish hours (more with DLC and Hard Mode), Rebirth is closer to triple that.

Replayability, YMMV, but there is, again, a chapter select and unlockable Hard Mode.

If you like Ubisoft kind of open worlds, you're gonna love this game.
If you dont, theres a chance you will still like this game, if you'll reduce doing side content to minimum and stick to main story quest.

Otherwise, you will most likely not like the game

I don't have a problem with the world bosses or mobs but the jump in difficulty with the mini-games / VR battles is super annoying, for me if they fix those 2 things I'll think this game is perfect or very near to it in my opinion of course.
Yes, game is horrible. Characters are 11/10 with incredible charisma. Story is bland and empty, you could get similar experience by watching current 5/10 anime. Combat is different than RR7 Remake. New punisher mode is biggest pile of crap they could have made.

This isnt Final Fantasy anymore but mini games simulator, since on every move you take, you will be greeted (and sometimes forced for character progression) with another horrible mini game which is there only to ramp up more game time.

Open world have its advantages like quick travel and Chocobo but besides that, you will drop this game after you realize whats going on (or not if you are simping over Tifa /Aerith romantic relationship)

I agree with this except I found the story good because I liked OG FFVII and I'm interested in how they're going to end it.
Also Yuffie is best

i still prefer og (we can't buy it on steam tho)
some scenes are good and nostalgic but added new characters are not attractive
ubi-style exploration and ton of minigames like Mario party makes me irritate
personally, remake better than this rebirth

Why can't you buy OG on Steam?

What? You can still buy the old game on Steam.
