If you want to play without updating

1. Put Steam in offline mode.
2. Go to .../Steam/steamapps and find the "appmanifest_*.acf" that corresponds to FF7 Rebirth.
3. Change "StateFlags" to "4" (should be line 7).
4. Restart Steam (don't know if this makes a difference but I did and still works for me).

The "StateFlags" value will revert to "6" after you launch the game so I think you'd have to do this every time.

Yesterday, I got home from work late. I usually spend about two hours playing this game, but I had to patch it. I didn’t mind and applied the patch, which took about 10 minutes. But for other people, it can take up to an hour or more

Open each one in Notepad and near the top it'll say the game name.

You can also set game to update only on launch and switch steam to offline mode every time you want to play the game.

Then it is time to maybe just maybe upgrade the storage, if they don't have enough space.

Check the url for this board, it'll have this game's ID number
