What did this patch even do?
Textures and objects are still popping after a 180 on both of my PCs & also my colleague’s.

"Improved overall game stability, including several bug fixes."

That's about it. I did noticed TAA is less blurry, TAAU is also less blurry. DLSS still the same. Stutters I barely notice them. The texture pop-ins are still there. Hell, during a battle. The screen went completely white then back to normal. No crashes for me still.

Not much. And stutters still there, they must improve shaders compilation.

they should have added dlss 4 and fsr for others is what they should have also put into this patch
It's almost like you're being punished for not owning a PS5.
There's a place that shows the files that were changed in the patch, but I don't know where uses get that info.

beside stable performance everything else is a downgrade
no idea, took a few minutes at most to download and it's somehow struggling to patch it

The game has to "unpack" a huge file that has a bunch of smaller files in it, replace the files that need to be patched, then "repack" the big file back up.

Like unzipping your backpack, getting out a notebook, making some notes, then putting it back in your backpack and zipping it up.

The files needed to be replaced were 17.5GB in size, but the places in the file system is all over, so the patch needs to open multiple backpacks, which takes a lot of time.

Visuals are dramatically improved on PC, too.

OP, perhaps you don't have enough VRAM and need to lower settings so its causing it to swap assets that are not out of view? If you lower some VRAM intensive settings it may help alleviate this. I don't personally experience any such issue, but I also have an RTX 4090 with 24 GB of VRAM. I do know that DF's investigation sound it quite VRAM intensive for 8 GB VRAM in particular.

Tbf, I would have bought this even if it was released as early access simply because I wanted to re-experience the story but they should have been upfront about the current state of the port.
I know that I'm in the minority here, but is the port really that bad? I've never had it crash once, after the first patch I had no more pop-in. I only have stutter when they climb cliffs and even then its so minimal I don't care. I'm genuinely wondering if the port is bad or if it's brain-rotted people going " CHRIST. ONE BLADE OF GRASS THIRTY METERS AWAY POPPED IN?? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SQUENIX!"?

No it wasn't. However, the patch update note was too vague, and therefore many are finding it hard to justify the big (time consuming) update/ download. Square could have been more detailed for such a big patch.

Worse yet, and I know many players don't care, is that SE has hidden changes that many players found unnecessary and "censorship" behind vague patch notes in the previous FFVII Remake game.

Until someone does a deep dive into the files that were actually patched, we won't know SE's intentions with this patch, as many so far have stated in other threads that no bugs were fixed, and in some cases, the game doesn't even run with today's release of Nvidia driver. So far the community understands that this patch did nothing good, contrary to what the patch notes claim.
I think they fixed softlocks
