I absolutely despise the exploration in this game.
The grasslands was what I thought was going to be a fun open worldish game. These later levels having to bounce on certain mushrooms to reach certain places. Cosmo Canyon is absolute cancer. Having to follow a freaking guide on YouTube on how to reach a tower on the map. This time wasting, aggravating garbage better not be in the third game.

To be fair there are different types... like Skyrim exploring and then this here. FF feels much more restricted, and the camera doesn't help in many situations.
Actually exploring is Skyrim with the HUD dimmed, finding eggs and interesting quests and storylines and artifacts. Thats not what this sounds like.

Or better yet actually exploring is going outside to a new place.
Gongaga and Comso Canyon are chores to navigate

i don't mean no offense, but you hate fights, you hate the story, you hate exploring....not sure but you probably hate minigames. Why are you playing this game? and What are you expectations of the thrid game? a Movie?

I love exploring. I don't like for exploration to be a chore. This type of design isn't fun.
Hallways are bad. Open world is bad. Open zone is bad. Linearity is bad. Non linear gameplay is bad. Story is bad. Lack of story is bad. A lot of side content is bad. A small amount of side content that is bad. Answering questions is bad. Not answering questions is bad. Etc etc etc.
An FF7 movie that is true to the original plot! Now there's an idea

I'm having a blast exploring Gongaga.
I actually had the thought while playing that it simply doesn't "feel" good to traverse the various maps or regions. They look great, but it feels like there's a disconnect between player agency and what's happening on the screen. Every obstacle I encounter annoys me for some reason.
I personally loved it. Each region felt fresh and unique

Loved it, i was surprised how open it was compared to PART1. How do you play a JRPG and NOT want to explore lol....Especially when the original had exploration. Wrong genre for you bro.
No, you're not understanding or reading. I like exploring, I do not like to be aggravated while exploring. ES games, Fallout, Witcher 3 etc that is the type of exploring I like.

TBH These games are mostly made for the fans of the OG game which I think it does well.. The OG game had almost all the mini games this game does though will say this game has expanded on them quite a bit. The OG game the exploration as far as "open world" was just a over world you just grinded on to level up. This game greatly expands on the open world aspects has tons to do that you DON'T have to do but can do if thats what you enjoy. if not just do the main quests. the game isn't forcing you to do the majority of the content.

Will say as a fan of the OG and it being the first game I EVER beat in 97 on release I am enjoying all the content alot. But each to their own. But people need to come in and realize these "remake" games are NOT trying to cater to new fans as much as it is the older fans.

Arent you the same dude from XIII discussion threads that complained about XIII being too hard and you didnt want to learn how the paradigm battle system worked and tried to just use cheats to beat it instead?
