This.
It means that they will have 24 hours before the crack unless the pirates internet speed is fast enough to download 155gb in one day then re-upload it. Most of the purchases will be pre-orders or day 1 purchases so they'd actually lose out on quite a bit of sales otherwise - when it comes to sales the first 2-3 days are the most important. That being said, I'm probably only gonna get to play the day after dues to my download speed ;(
I mean I can't speak for the quality of the port but the game is 100% awesome.
They are still fixing bugs.
It's still a valid point.
When a game leaks pre-release, and is the only way to play before officially available, it's that much more attractive to a large class of gamers. The fact that its free is just icing for those folks.
Granted, this is a game that is out on another platform, but this is almost definitely the superior version. Also, SE is trying to explore a path to viability for these AAA titles, and PC is really important for them to do so. It's also a tricky platform to get right (i.e. stable and performant). They are getting better at this, but it's a shift for them they are nearing completion on I think.
It is what it is. It's almost here, just wait.
