If you don't then you can't get the bonuses even if you have the save data.
If you do, save data can be obtained from nexus, gamefaqs, etc
and you don't need a complete one, so you can just play from the beginning until you can save first time on both remake and intermission
and steam might notice you abusing refund system like that, just like buying a game then refunding it after unlocking achievements or trading cards
That's literally piracy...
Steam isn't going to notice you refunding a single game. There's no policy that disallows unlocking achievements before refunding.
As for trading cards, they usually drop after the two hour time limit is up anyway.
It's piracy to buy a game, play it a bit and refund it within the bounds that you're allowed to?
Eh.....when something is in the game files, you're not exactly taking anything you don't already own. By that logic, one could say using cheat engine in a game where there's boost type DLC is also piracy....which I don't think anyone sane would argue.
