The best, and hardest Final Fantasy game ever. Buy it. Trust me.
I platinumed this for PS5, and just wanted to give this game a shoutout since it unfortunately didn´t sell all that well for PS5.

To me, this is the ultimate Final Fantasy game. It took me around 180hours to platinum it, but used some guides. The amount of content is staggering. And even though the combatsystem at first might seem confusing, and early maybe even a tad too easy. Trust me, the endgame is probably the most difficult endgame there is in a FF game. (Some disagree, and lift FF12 to be more difficult, but according to me... the requirement to absolutely master the battlesystem in this game, makes it a far greater challenge.)

It´s also amazingly beautiful, the music is... magnificent. It´s magical to rediscover all the famous spots they recreated, and... mastering every minigame? Pure bliss.

Please send a message to Square that THIS is the kind of Triple AAA we are willing to pay for. Don´t let this game be a financial failure for them. BUY IT!

What about FF13? By the end of that game your fingers are just flying across the inputs and you have to think 3 paradigm shifts ahead. Tbf I have only played remake as I'm still waiting for rebirth but I can't see it being harder/more skill based than 13. But I'll be really happy if so.

if it doesnt have a boss like yiazmat then its not the hardest FF game

I'm so damn excited for this. Props to XVI for trying to do something different, but I don't think the mood hits right at all with the gameplay style and the solo adventure type vibe.

FF7 remake with its cast and crew is the whimsical adventure i need, dude. That's the Final Fantasy I know and love
I didn't do the hard mode playthrough on PS5 because I wanted to wait for it on PC to really dive in, but even just a normal mode play doing pretty close to all the content, and I went blind, took almost 90 hours. The game is no joke in terms of content albeit one minor gripe about a couple sections that went too hard on minigames that broke the pacing they really didn't need to do.

That said, the game is so good and it reminds me of what makes FF iconic to the point where it inspired me to go back and play other titles in the series. That doesn't happen to me that often.

Agree with OP on the combat system. This is hands down the best system they've ever come up with, and it has a very decent skill ceiling, especially if you can keep yourself from looking anything up.

Glad to see such levelheaded and informed support in this thread. I really hope all of you guys back this game. The last endgame challenge is (SPOILERS!!!) a grueling 10battle long ironmatch gauntlet, were you need perfect mastery of your build and character knowledge. Some of the fights become so technical they are more akin to a Soulslike game, than a FF game - in a good way. BUY!!

Combat System: WTF is this!?

This is a walking simulator... It feels like FF15 light.

Heck yeah! Story and censorship concerns notwithstanding, it's really really good. Best single-player FF since 2001's FF10 in my book.

Really like the combat in this game

I am still not sure about the hardest. Yes probably by FF Standards but also here is a maybe, but i don't think the game is very hard for casual gamers and not even close to a soulslike like Elden Ring or so. Getting 100% is hard on this i agree

I'd agree if it had alot of green quests with ministories everywhere to find, instead of the same yellow side activity challenges on every map. Some of the yellow doesnt make sense to get party exp from, so if there was alot of green sidestory quests you couldve both got xp and party exp from those. There is usually just 2 or 5 of those green real side stories on each.
mandatory Minigames is another matter, and the rest is no problem since skippable. But theyre mostly not in the way.

I've no doubt everyone in this topic disliked FF13, but i liked it. This still wont beat the hate the game kings quest 8 got where even the developers hate it along the fans. Pretty shocking to find out a childhood experience got this, but screw them i say. Zero chance for a remake now

Tbh, I kinda want Square to return to their roots. jRPGs have evolved into action RPGs and with FF16, it's just action fantasy now.

You did a lot of walking in OG as well, so what's the problem?

One of the few things i agree on. Action based FF have been a good/different run for a time but miss the older turn based game combat. You can still have cool skill animations and summons. I'm not sure how they will handle supernova in this, but i bet its going to be a instant game over spell or a dps race against time

I liked FF15 but 16 was a huge meh from me. You can still do turn/time based combat but I can't remember the last game that did it right and was wildly praised and successful. FF7 Remake combat isn't bad either but the more I play it, the more I want something more deep like proper combos like Ninja Gaiden and then it's not FF anymore. Then it's whatever we got in FF16.

They really are between a rock and a hard place.
