Really? But not the story, right?
There's no co-op nor will there ever be. every game doesn't need co-op, every game doesn't need an online deathmatch.
If you want to play a co-op RPG there's thousands, what's this fascination about making every game experience the same?
I do agree though. Coop isn't something that would be a natural part of the progression of the franchise. It's largely been a single-player experience. There are a lot of features that might be at home in another genre that are not here. We shouldn't be fighting for the homogenization of video games. Games should stand out for being who they are, and not trying to be who others are. This game has enough issues with that already.
BG3 campaign can be played completely on coop and it is really fun. Trolling potential in the game is unlimited.
Yeah that's like the only game that popped up my mind but BG3 is not my type of game
They're extremely long story heavy games. In fact, I'm pretty sure the games are typically the longest of any of the JRPGs, story wise. The coop part is combat only, similar to the old FFIX where you control the other characters in combat but outside of combat player 1 controls the character for story/exploration and player two relaxes enjoying the story. Except this system is an action combat system.
Final Fantasy XIV. No seriously, here me out. Apparently, the game features story on par with the single player main entry games and can be enjoyed solo or as a group. In fact, I guess it would technically be closer to multiple games with all the expansions at this point. From what I've read, they seem to be more political and military intrigue and stuff, though, so I haven't played them myself.
There isn't much in the way of online coop JRPGs that are story focused.
