SE declares war on customers, threatens to sue for "comment or post on the Internet"

Wow. That's a way to seek goodwill from your fans after continued layoffs and restructuring stemming from low sales for titles including FF16 and Rebirth that fell below company expectations. The misguided DEI policies probably played a part in it too. I wonder what Square Enix shareholders think of all this.

I think I'll be staying clear of Square Enix games for now, since I definitely don't need my wind down gaming time to feel something more like a hostage situation.

I just laughed out loud.

Steam needs to rework the awards system, all they do is encourage low level trolls to spam in all forums.

Didn't someone else post basically this exact same topic, stemming from the exact same unwillingness or inability to actually comprehend the policy as stated?

It's what they do.

Dude wtf does DEI have to do with this. Stop bringing politics here.

people see the most basic harassment policy and take it personally

must be because i dont plan to harass workers if i dislike the game.

Honestly, this stuff should be standard. The amount of overt death threats I got when I worked in the industry was so over the top that I was completely number to it within a few months.

This is, unfortunately, how the grift works. A grifter will take something like "do not harass employees" and misrepresent it into, quoting OP here, "a hostage situation" on the consumer.

Tbh, hats off to OP for giving such a good example.

Bro, just chill. Nobody is surprised that SE is protecting their developers from stalkers and death threats. Even these incessant troll threads alone, which are full of obsessive–compulsive spamming, are more than enough to justify Square Enix. Some people just really have issues.

My favorite part is how internally oblivious it is. It's pretty clear they don't actually believe what they're even saying.

If it was true, simply making this post would be inviting a lawsuit, and I don't believe for a second that OP thinks they're about to get served.

They'd just tell you it's Steam and Steam forum mods are lazy or whatever, even though a very spicy thread just got deleted.

Even then, it's so weird to act like they genuinely believe Square will sue people for posting critical threads on the internet, in a critical thread on the internet that they've posted on the internet that they pretty clearly aren't worried they'll get sued over.

Also, I decided to look up their 'source', and wow,[mediabiasfactcheck.com]
"Please pre-order our year old game also" Hahahahahaha
