My PS5 i bought in May 2023 for FF16 crashes to error screen on newer games (a few times on graphics mode for FF16 but finished the end of the game on performance mode and no crashes), but not on PS4 games or ports of them like FF7 Intergrade and Yuffie DLC which both ran fine.
I sent my PS5 for warranty repair with PlayStation here in Australia and they sent it back cleaned but otherwise with the same issue, tried a second time with 4 different copies of the same A4 page note in different parts of the box explaining the issue and how to repeat it (big font, paragraphs separated, easy to read) so they couldn't miss it and called the repair line before hand and they added a note as well rather than only submitting it online as I did the first time.
But despite all that it still came back same way and no notes from them both times either.
So what prompted me to send it in is that i had bought the FF7 Rebirth bundle with Intergrade at launch and played through the Yuffie DLC which i hadn't played yet and it worked great, but then i booted up FF7 Rebirth and every time in the first few battles or if i skip everything and manage to save in Nibelheim, i can load the save and it will crash at random spots within a minute and this is on performance mode as well, guess that Unreal engine was pushing parts of this PS5 that are broken.
So damn you Sony for not letting me play this game all year and PC all the way for FF from now on.
The only way around it was to play on my handheld PC through chiaki and upscaling / running lossless scaling app over chiaki.
This game deserves better than what a ps5 can provide.
1: Its the best Final Fantasy in over 20 years imo, and I would like to play it again without compromise.
2: The performance mode looks terrible on the PS5. I'm not paying $1300NZD for poor mans DLSS in a console with the PS5 Pro when I have a 7800X3D and a 4090.
